I really enjoyed this issue. What I enjoyed the most was the Firestorm stuff. It was awesome. Aqualad was cool but that last page? AMAZING!
Brightest Day
Once dead, 12 heroes and villains were resurrected by a white light expelled deep from within the center of the Earth. Deemed a miracle by many and a sign of the apocalypse by others, the reasons behind their rebirths remain a mystery. But it will not be a mystery for long.
Unscripted Review: Brightest Day #10
I'm going to assume Mera told Aqualad's adopted parents who his real dad was. They stayed from the water because activating his powers makes him trackable. When his step dad was about to tell him, Black Manta appeared. Hence, he knew he was no match for Manta but knew his step son had a fighting chance by hitting the water where his powers would be activated and be at their fullest.
GREAT issue. LOVED it when a certain someone CAUGHT the harpoon, snapped it, and said, "MANTA..." I am worried it won't be till issue 13 before we seen the showdown that I have been CRAVING since issue 1.
Seems to me, they are retconning Firestorm's matrix...not sure I like it. Reminds me of that elemental Firestorm arc in previous volumes.
yeah, even though it's mantle
and probably a proud one to bear- I can't see him actually going by "Aqualad"
it's too corny sounding for a seemingly intelligent young person
It wasn't cheesy or shocking, but it felt forced to me. I was rolling my eyes that Aqualad would go heroic because of his adoptive father's sacrifice. It definitely didn't feel natural within the story's flow.
I really enjoyed the issue. Lots of action, lots of progression, great art, and I was rather entertained. Actually love how they are building up Aquaman and Black Manta....it makes them seem so legit.

" I can't stop staring at teh boobs guys. I feel like a 14 year old kid lmao. nice review otherwise...... "Yes I'm implying you are a 14 year old kid lmao.
I'm dying to watch this especially seeing Sara's face trying so hard to be perky about it. My computer stalled out right before you rated it...
But Albert Einstein. Really. Is Johns shark jumping? Should I exclude this from my big bundle being shipped over the ocean?

Yeah, I was going to say I don't think I've seen you that excited or into an issue for a little while. You and G-Man both seemed enthusiastic about it.
I haven't been reading Brightest Day but I'm kind of interested, would you recommend it as a whole so far?
This series has really picked up the pace since issue #7. It was nice to see Jackson be the front runner in this title finally. He seems to be the premeire character of Brightest Day.
If Aqualad's story is like Star Wars, does that mean we can expect him to get his hand chopped off soon? If so, can he have Aquaman's totally rad hook hand? I always liked that thing...
Yes, I'm aware none of this has to do with anything.
I enjoyed the issue. I thought a bit too much of it was clichéd as hell, like how Firestorm just happens to be this super dangerous powerful threat of ZOMGness...and how Aqualad finds out his parents aren't really his parents and that he's actually the son of Black Manta, who is some super bad villain dood...how the father decides he needs to sacrifice himself for his son's safety...etc etc. Other than that level of overwrought "you've read this before a million times over", I think it's interesting to see how all of this will play into the event.
I want to ask you all: do you really think that there is a big overarcing reason for some of these characters, or do you think they are making it up as they go along? I keep getting this mental image of Geoff Johns frantically trying to figure out how to piece this all together.
The stuff about the cover reminds me of this Batman comic I got drawn by Todd McFarlain. Its Batman holding this woman. She seems really upset, his cape is flying all around covering them both. Inside, nothing about Batman saving a woman at all. He helps two orphan children.
Aw man, I want some spoilers.
Great review, love the conversations when you both review the comic. Solos are good too, but I like it when its like a conversation about the issue. Good job.
" i thought this issue was pretty lame. I thought aqualad was lame and the firestorm part was stupid. This series is losing me. Im spending a lot of money reading all this stuff and it's not paying off. "I kinda liked the FIrestorm stuff but this series is really starting to wear on my nerves as well. I think I might drop it f the next issue doesn't pull in.
