    Review: Brightest Day #8

    The Story

Boston Brand (Anti-Dead Man) initiates his search for the White Lantern being’s new “Chosen One" and decides to seek the counsel of an expert in the field. The Martian Manhunter makes a startling revelation about his own past. While Hawkman get's a (101) History lesson on Hawkworld and makes some serious decisions in terms of his game-plan.  Now as for Hawkgirl, she tries to slap down with Hath-Set and more stunning revelations ensue.

    The Good

Let's see this... First this issue maintains a lot of the pace from #7, for the most part at least anyway. This however is probably most attributed to the fact we've got a actual idea of where this story is going finally.  But that aside, the issue features Martian Manhunter and Hawkman sort of predominantly throughout. So consequently you definitely don't deal with that expansive character variety that appeared in issue #7. On a positive note however, this issue maintains a really certain specificality in regards to it's pace. The story really attempts to get to it's point expediently but maintains that craftsmen ship with deliver so it's a major help to the issue. Especially considering with just of recent " Brightest Day" wasn't really known for getting to the point or telling us much of anything.

But of course that doesn't appear to be the case anymore: the pieces are really starting to fall together and all the continuity is really coming into fruition. Probably one of the most important factors however, is they've continued to reveal things and not half bad reveals at. Of course mostly involving Hawkman, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter. Yet they all surprised me in one way or another and or teased me enough to totally come back for more. Which is definitely a major factor in the success of a book in my opinion. But enough of that, now on to the art front. The art again does the job but sometimes can just be blah in comparison to some pages, this is mainly do to the fact that the art's divvied up and that it's just not very similar to keep a consistent flow. Nevertheless it gets the job done in prompting the story across.

    The Bad

There really isn't much except I wish that the issue didn't feel so sort, because I mean it delivers a excellent set up but it's like already over before you know it. Secondly, I think they played the tie-in card a bit too heavily because by the end of the book it seemed like things were going in a lot  of different directions. All that stuff aside it's a solid issue that's just really really fast.

    The Verdict: 4/5

All in all with this issue is a enjoyably fun read with a lot of solid factors going for it, and I definitely recommended it especially if your following "Brightest Day" because it really does lays a lot of things out in regards to the storyline.
