    La ville mexicaine de Chihuahua et ses alentours sont le théâtre de divers affrontements entre Blueberry, le gobernador Lopez, Chihuahua Pearl, le comandante Vigo, les jayhawkers Kimball et Finley, ainsi que MacClure et Red Neck. Ils sont tous à la recherche du trésor des Confédérés, dont le secret est détenu par un ancien colonel sudiste enfermé dans le « bagne-forteresse de Corvado ».
