Those of us who watched X- Men Origins: Wolverine might recall having seen actor Ryan Reynolds play Deadpool. You might also recall that shortly after the release of Origins, rumors began to circulate that Reynolds would be reprising the role of Deadpool for the big screen in his own movie, and that none other than Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld would be involved in the development of the proposed film. Unfortunately, those rumors never seemed to have amounted to much, and we are still without a Deadpool movie. But Rob Liefeld hasn't given up on bringing his creator owned properties to Hollywood, at least not yet.

Sources are saying and Liefeld has confirmed that he has taken BLOODSTRIKE to Hollywood and will produce a film based on his series. BLOODSTRIKE is a series created by Liefeld about a top secret organization made up of dead mercenaries who were brought back to life as part of "Project: Born Again." The series was first published by IMAGE back in 1993 and featured ex-Youngblood member Cabbot Stone as the leader of the team. According to Variety, however, the film adaptation of BLOODSTRIKE will be a little bit different from the concepts we saw in the comics. The film will feature "an elite group of super-soldiers who have vampire blood." Sounds trendy, right? To be fair, though, this description doesn't deviate too much from the original characteristics of the Bloodstrike characters: they are super powered, they are dead and they are all members of a secret organization. The just happen to want to suck your blood, too.

In addition to Liefeld having signed on to produce the film, Variety has also reported that Adi Shankar's 1984 Private Defense Contractors has acquired the film's movie rights. Based on the little we know, Rob wants to make this movie a violent one. The creator took to Twitter to reveal that he wants this movie to be "R-rated." Sound like something you're interested in? On a more serious note, I've never read an issue of Bloodstrike before, so I'll wait to see who the creative team behind this one is before getting excited or booing. Hopefully they don't sparkle.

Can you really call those characters "creator-owned properties" if he obviously just recolored Wolverine with Hawk's color scheme and gave Cable a mullet-ponytail and a Nightwing-esque edgy domino mask?

I'll give credit where credit is due, though; the zipper on that skull-faced man's pants has to be one of the kinkiest things I've seen in a while (it's not a Liefeld drawing, but still).

Also, this movie has to be completely CG, right? You're not going to be able to accurately reproduce Liefeld's unique sense of grotesque disproportionality with real, live actors.

This is fantastic news. I couldn't care less about the film, but it should keep Liefeld from ruining another comic for a while.

I was gonna say something - but literally every witty thing to insult this idea has already been stated. High five to all of you.

There are, like, a million different things I want to say about this...not a single one being really positive.

If its directed by Eli Roth it will probably deliberately try to make the audience tear out their own eyes...if they dont just rupture on their own.

Some CGI to make the feet smaller, female contortionists that can arch the way Liefeld draws, some pectoral enhancements ... I can't wait to see this onscreen !

@Chaos Burn: @davelecave: no. it was in that awful period called the 90s when liefeld rose to power by copying popular characters and him being a lazy **** just changed the color scheme and removed some powers and added pouches and guns.

I used to feel sorry for Rob Liefeld for all the abuse he gets but to be honest he doesnt really make it easy for himself, does he? He seriously lacks originality. I could come up with better superheroes yet he earns a lot of money from his career.

I thought the main reason people dislike him was his art? It'd have very little to do with a live-action adaptation, surely?

@Mediumflyer7: its not that he makes it easy for us. he just doesnt give a crap. in the 10+ years hes been in the bizz his artwork has not improved 1 inch. he is best friends with jim lee. JIM LEE! one of the best artist out there. he couldve easily picked up some tips. but he doesnt. hes just ridding the wave of the characters he created in the 90s.

I was a fan of this book when it came out (I was 11), but this is a terrible idea. My guess is that if it gets made, it will be called Bloodstrike, but have nothing at all to do with the comic. Sort of like Troll 2...still waiting for the trolls to show up in that one...

Make a Supreme or Glory movie instead

the only Rob Liefeld creation i want on the big screen is Deadpool..and i dont mean the deadool from wolverine that just talks alot and is fancy with a sword. i mean the actual Deadpool, the one with the suit, ugly face, healing powers, guns etc. etc.

and if its an Image title that needs to be made into a movie, its either Haunt or a Spawn remake

@zackattack529: actually funny story. the deadpool you know isnt the deadpool liefeld wanted him to be. he detests the fact the fact that they made him crazy, funny, constantly breaking the fourth wall etc. his vision of DP was bad-ass with guns and pouches. like every one of his creations. marvel developed the character.

Oh man....The guy is like a pest. What part of the fans think you suck Liefeld don't you get? Does Hollywood really think they will get any money back from anything he's done? the only good character is Deadpool but even he was heavily changed from what Liefeld wanted him to be.

I just want to go on record saying, I love Rob Liefeld, I love young blood, supreme, shadowhawk, all of the IMAGE set. I have a double collection of every appearance of Cabbot Stone. Bloodstrike is my favorite title, ever. But I think it goes without being said that Brigade is every bit as important to BloodStrike as Joker is to Batman. This movie is like, the first Batman movie to me. I don't care how warped the film is, Im going to love it, if it ever happens. I just hope that the opportunity to really flesh out the Image 'bloodverse' can be used to its fullest and greatest.
