Blair (ブレア, Burea) is a supporting character of the Soul Eater series created by Atsushi Ohkubo. The first chapter was published in Square Enix's Gangan Powered on June 24, 2003, and began regular monthly serialization in Square Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine on May 12, 2004.

Her first appearance was in Soul Eater Volume 1 Prologue 1 "Soul Eater".

Blair is created as a reference to the Blair Witch Project film. As with the fake found footage movie, Blair is revealed to be an over-promised hoax that isn't what she seems. In the first chapter, there is a scene after Maka and Soul's second failed attack. Maka has a note with her plan to defeat Blair. It's titled as "Maka's Blair Witch Project" (摩訶のブレアウィッチプロジェクト, Maka no Burea Wicchi Purojekuto).

    Character Evolution

First mistaken by Maka and Soul to be a witch that they needed to make Soul a death scythe, it turns out that she is just a cat with strong magical powers. The theme of Blair's magic consists of pumpkins, which she uses as weapons (bombs, cannon, etc), as well as something of a catchphrase (Pump-Pumpkin, Pumpkin), which she often recites before using her powers. She has started to like Soul (who she calls Scythe Boy) and playfully flirts with him. Blair also flirts with Soul to see how Maka acts by doing so. She was supposed to be the witch soul Maka and Soul needed but since she was not a witch, they only took one of her nine "lives". This meant that they had to start all over again. Afterwards, she starts living with them for no apparent reason other than to be closer to them; Maka and Soul, as well as their visitors, have quietly accepted her into their lives. She is well endowed, which is used when she flirts with Soul usually by appearing out of her cat form in little to no clothing. She is very good at understanding other people. She is always looking for some fun, whether it is harmless or not. Her hat is named Zwan and can change into a hand when Blair commands it to. She sometimes refers to herself in third person. She has been shown to be strong enough to deal with the evil spirit "The Flying Dutchman" all by herself while in her cat form.

    Powers & Abilities

    Magic

Pumpumkin-Pumpkin: A mantra Blair says before using most of her powers, be it for aggressive, recreational or personal interests. Her powers, when not involved with the following attacks, apparently only affect inanimate objects, though this is all we see her use them on and thus may not be a proper representation

Shape-shifting: Blair is originally a cat with strong magic, but she often likes to be in a human form. She performs this transformation with her magic.

Halloween Cannon (ハロウィーン砲, Harowīn Hō): Blair can create pumpkins of magical energy to fire and explode on impact. The size of these projectiles vary in size.

Smashing Pumpkin (スマッシング・パンプキン, Sumasshingu Panpukin): With this attack, Blair creates a large pumpkin made of magical energy that has incredibly weight. It will crush anything trapped under it once thrown and explodes.

    Weapons & Equipment

Blair's hat and witches clothes can be manipulated with magic to reach out and grab an enemy.
