Wolverine has been captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. and is being forced by one of the chiefs to be a part of the Superhuman Registration Act. He ends up breaking out of his shackles and escapes S.H.I.E.L.D..
In Long Beach California Blade is in the middle of a battle with his old enemy Morbius. Wondering why Morbius is not fighting as much against Blade, it turns out Morbius signed with the Superhuman Registration Act and Blade ends up getting captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Flashback.
Blade is at a bar with two friends. One of his friends tells Blade that he was attacked by a vampire in a long black rain coat and a cowboy hat.
Now
Now Blade is at the S.H.I.E.L.D. office with it's director Maria Hill. She tells Blade about Wolverine breaking the Registration Act and later escaping and that they want Blade to go after him because Blade might be perfect to take him dead or alive. He he does it, he gets the rights to kill vampires because to S.H.I.E.L.D. killing vampires without government approval is illegal.
Flashback.
Blade finds the vampire but it is nothing like friend described it. Blade attacks the vampire anyway.
Now
Blade sneaks into Wolverine's Brooklyn apartment. Wolverine comes back from a battle with Omega Red and finds Blade in his apartment. Blade tells Wolverine he is after him. Wolverine releases his claws while Blade pulls out his sword. The two charge at each other stabbing each other.
Flashback.
As Blade fights the strong vampire he spots the man in the cowboy hat and the long coat in the shadows.
Now
Wolverine knock Blade of his feet and takes his sword about to stab him with it. All of a sudden Blade fires a gun at wolverine having little effect on him. Wolverine charges but Blade punches him but Wolverine tags him to the ground. Wolverine gets ready to stab him but Blade pulls out a vial of vampire blood that as soon as he injects into Wolverine's body, he turns into a vampire making it easy for Blade to stab him in the heart. All of a sudden Blade pauses and puts the vial away. Blade says "No. I just remembered something. Let me go it is over." Blade says that him and Wolverine are to evenly matched and that S.H.I.E.L.D. won't bother him ever again. This puzzles wolverine.
Back at S.H.I.E.L.D. Blade tells Hill Wolverine is off limits and that he gets to still hunt vampires and back off from Wolverine or else Blade will go after S.H.I.E.L.D. Walking away Blade says that he owes him one.
Flashback.
Blade is nearly killed by the vampire but all of a sudden the man in the hat slams the vampire against the wall, grabs a stake from Blade, and kills the vampire. Blade still shocked from the fight, the man in the hat gives Blade his coat. Blade thanks the man for saving him. The man in the cowboy hat says no problem and that he owes him one. The man in the hat is Wolverine.
