Do not fear them
I can say in all honesty here that this is a pretty solid issue, and I was interested to see the return of Greg Rucka to a Wonder Woman story as his writing here has been among the best there is. Indeed the issue here was really Wonder Woman's role within Blackest Night, after looking at her in the main Blackest Night series I found myself wondering how she would fare as a standalone with this source material, but the sad truth despite the talent and the interesting concept, is that it is not such a good match between character and plot. Certainly the individual plot here is definitely well handled, with the return of Maxwell Lord, but it is more within the context of the entire story arc that this fails. As a standalone story arc with the elements that make Wonder Woman who she is are present here, but into the overall arc, something just feels wrong, like it is not in the right genre. Still as a story it does stand by itself pretty well, and the characterizations are pretty accurate, just a case of wrong place and wrong time.
