Alright, this was tough for me to say because I really love so much of Reggie Hudlin's work on Black Panther. I was not pleased with this ending, and I think that the book really could have taken a different direction. There are so many things I feel I would have done differently! What happened to the motivation behind Doctor Doom bombing Wakanda, anyway? What about Namor, what happened to him? We haven't seen either of these characters since the first two issues. Why did Morlun have to go down so easily? Sometimes happy endings are not as compelling as bad ones. I like comic books that have a bad ending. I like when my comic characters die at appropriate times because that often propels the plot forward, further establishes character development and it motivates readers to keep reading. I felt like Hudlin had a chance to give Shuri a dignified and glorious death, and he failed to do that. Storm was not portrayed as the powerful and dignified female character that she is, and if you ask me, Morlun went down a little bit too easily. It had the potential to be heartwarming and powerful; but unfortunately it was not. I have to admit I was not as moved by this issue as I had been previous issues. If you read this, I would love to hear your thoughts. How do you feel about a new (official) female Black Panther?
Also a thank you to Asia Lee for sending me a pair of her signature sunglasses. Check out her stuff here!
