In this issue we are introduced to and see the quick demise of the Black Orchid, at the hands of a very buisnesslike crime syndicate. This is a shock and a point of dispair to professor Phil Sylvian who we find out later created Black Orchid and her sisters by combining plant DNA with that of his dead wife and daughter
This is a bit of an odd duck of a superhero book, if for no other reason than that the heroine of the story is killed within the first few pages. After that this book is pure introduction and characterization. setting us up for the players in our story.
More drama than anything else, and narrowly missing the soap opera drama it ends up being an interesting story, whose painted art is the perfect match for the words.
