Skipping Ahead
Duane Swierczynski has surprised me with how enjoyable his Birds of Prey have been. He introduced a new character and reintroduced familiar characters with a twist. How does he add onto this new team in issue #5?
THE GOOD:
This is the issue where the art finally clicked. I really started to liking it in this issue and I really am starting to like the new costumes. I also really like how Jesus Saiz captures emotion of the characters. You really can almost guess how they are feeling and I enjoy that. The story is actually great for an amnesia story. The birds don't remember anything that has happened. Normally I hate these plots, but I think it worked well in this. I also really like how you like all the characters, but the writer creates a secret about the character that makes you think they could betray the team.
THE BAD:
I don't like amnesia stories and this is kinda that. It's not awful but I just don't really enjoy them having to learn everything again.
THE VERDICT: 4.5/5 (Amazing)
This version of the Birds of Prey could grown to be my favorite. I though that without a certain writer, this series wouldn't be great but it's been really good and I think that it could rival Gail Simone's. The characters have different personality and it's just fun to see girls kick butt. If you like good comics, this is a fairly good one and I think that people might enjoy this.
