Birds of Prey Flying High 3

The Good: Spectacular fight scenes all around. Stellar as usual artwork. Excellent intro sets the mood nicely. While the 'arc' is technically over in a way, the story continues.Even though it's "Endrun: Part 4 of 4" the arc doesn't conclude, which I liked because there's still more that couldn't have been wrapped up in one issue. There was this one panel where Penguin looks seriously menacing. Completely badass. Which is awesome, I've loved any time Penguin gets respect ever since his Joker's As...

Black Canary vs White Canary round 2 0

Wow. I'm going to say it right now. This was an tense issue and a great conclusion to a great first arc for Birds of Prey.   Pros:  Like I said before, this was a tense issue of BoP in three different places with Black Canary fighting White Canary, Huntress and the other girls (and guy) dealing with Penguin, and Oracle being captured by Savant and Creole with surprises in store for each scene. Yes, the reveal of who White Canary is was someone I never thought about (I was going for Sin's Mother ...

Who is the White Canary? Finally Revealed!!!! 1

Cover The cover is great and the art is just amazing on it. Story White Canary when she was little was going to be pasted in a river to be adopted. But, thunder stroke the person holding her and the father said some powerful force is telling him to keep her and train her. Black Canary and White Canary keep fighting.   Brian, someone who use to help Oracle, is on an edge of a building with Oracle. He says that she ruined his life and told her how much torture her went through. While White Canar...

Shattered pasts into the violent present! 1

Story: We start the issue off with White Canary's origin. At Saanxi Prefecture a mother is giving birth to a girl. A man named Si fu sees it as a disgrace because his culture basically requires boys. His midwife is telling him this and he wants her to take the baby and dispose of it. As she is about to go and get it she is killed by a lightning bolt. It is a sign that the baby is not supposed to die. Back in Gotham Dinah is at the fight of her life. It is her against White Canary. They start the...

A beautiful tour de force. 1

Ever since I read the new volume of Birds of Prey, from its first issue, I have been thoroughly impressed with Gail Simone's storytelling. It's been a constant edge-of-your-seat read, made even more impressive with Ed Benes' wonderful interior art. But this issue in particular, whatever high standards it raised before, it shattered them completely. Simply put, it's a crime not to pick up this issue. Join me as I review Birds of Prey #4 where I'll explain why.  The Good  Black Canary vs White Can...

The Birds go out with a whimper... NEVER! 1

Indulge me for a moment while I wax philosophical. What makes a person a hero? Is it their abilities, physical or otherwise, that allow an individual to rise above the masses and take on the moniker hero? Or, is it really about the heart of a person? In his Superman run JMS is showing us how we all can be heroes in our very own neighborhoods, when we choose to put our own selfish desires aside and simply make ourselves available for others. A beautiful notion to be sure, but things are more comp...

"I know who you are now" 1

Be sure to check out my review of Birds of Prey #3. 100 Words Or LessThe fight between Black Canary and White Canary comes to a thrilling conclusion, Oracle is brought to the edge of death and the Penguin proves not all birds flock together.  So Then I Said...I've been waiting anxiously to get my hands on this issue ever since the end of #3 because I wanted to find out who White Canary was. Having read this issue now, I have to say I was a little disappointed. Not because of the reveal, but b...
