"Now let me tell you a little nursery rhyme..."
Synopsis: Poison Ivy tags along the Birds of Prey as they learn about two more walking bombs on the loose.
What's Good?
To be honest, I always thought of Poison Ivy as just being misunderstood. She's still a super villain, but recently (Gotham City Sirens) she's kind of loosen up a bit. She's the type of woman that if you tick her off, particularly when it comes to something plant related, she will kill you. So, her being part of this new Birds of Prey group isn't that startling when you think about it. Ivy also brings some new abilities in her arsenal, making her more dangerous than ever.
But besides that, now we have most of the group all together, ready to tackle this mysterious bomb situation.
Jesus Saiz continues to do a great job with this series when it comes to the art. I wasn't really a fan of Poison Ivy's new look, but it quickly grew on me in this issue. On top of that, there's an awesome explosion spread.
What's Bad?
This issue felt surprisingly short. I read through this in 4 or 5 minutes and the plot is slowly getting anywhere. We have (most) of the characters establish already, now the story needs to move forward. Duane Swiercynski is a great writer, but what's lacking in this new Birds of Prey is a clear villain to tackle.
Overall:
What I find struggling in this series right now is the story. It's picking up slowly each issue, but not quick enough. Hopefully things will pick up in the next issue when Batgirl shows up.
