    PREYING for a fresh start

The New 52 has spawned out a hole bunch of titles and given writers a chance to retell origin stories as well as creating new characters and situations for our most iconic characters. What is in store for the Birds of Prey and how will they take up to being rebooted in the New 52? Written by Duane Swierczynski and artowkr by Jesus Saiz.

The Birds of Prey are an odd group of super heroes, or anti-heroes. As they are a group of females usually that have no connections or actually have worked together in the past with one another. The Birds of Prey have always seemed to me like the DC Comics version of the X-Force, as most of the members on the B.O.P. aren't afraid to kill for the greater good. As they all have interesting and great connections to DC Continuity, they are a group of misfits as most of the team is either heroes turned anti-heroes or ex-villains. That is what makes them interesting.

The B.O.P. are once again in the line of fire of public hatred as Black Canary is a wanted fugitive for murder and the rest of the team's origin is sketchy still. The story written by Duane Swierczynski is really good and starts to introduce the core group of the team as well as giving them something interesting that will make them come back for the next issues.

The artwork by Jesus Saiz is really great and it works perfect for the kind of 'vibe' (if you want to call it that), that goes with the Birds of prey.

This isn't the most exciting the Birds of Prey have to offer as this seemed to be boring and got off to a slow pace just explaining who everyone is and what their connection with a reporter is to the team. However, it seemed to be more implying that this is a good place to join in for new readers.

This is a good place for anyone to start reading as you don't really have to know anything about the members of this team. I really wish it was more exciting than how broad it was just explained in this first issue, but everyone starts off somewhere right? That's what counts. Overall 4 out of 5.

Overview   Ornithologists beware, the Birds.. are back.. and they are... back.. and stuff. This is another one of the DCnU 52 books, that has characters on the cover that do not actually appear in the book, but that's okay. Book starts fast and that pace is keep at such for most of the issue. Most of the issue focuses on Black Canary and my totally favorite new character of right now, Starling. (its the tattoos, sass factor and the hair) but one very famous and popular Bird of Prey character fro...

The New Birds of Prey 0

Synopsis: Black Canary takes the role of assembling a new Birds of Prey. What's Good? This is not the Birds of Prey I know, and that's a huge statement coming from me. I was very reluctant to buy this book, because it was missing one of its central cast member: Oracle. How exactly was this group going to function? I'm not that familiar with Duane Swierczynski writing other than Psylocke, but makes Black Canary the central character for this series. She's still framed for a murder, but she still wa...
