    Studying under iconic genius, Barron Story, after dropping out of the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, Bill Koeb’s aspiration was to be a fine artist. He spent 17 years in California working as a freelance illustrator before moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he still resides.

    Koeb started his career in comics painting the back cover of Trina Robbins’ pro-choice comic book, CHOICES, in 1990. After that, he did the first of several painted stories and covers for Clive Barker’s anthology, HELLRAISER, published by Marvel Comics. Most noteworthy among his Hellraiser contributions was the 17-page story “The Pleasures of Deception”, written by Phil Nutman. Also in 1990, Koeb painted the cover and the 28-page story of Marvel/Epic's INTERFACE #7.

    Other comics work includes art for writer Lee Mars' miniseries FAULTLINES, published by Vertigo in 1997 and an 8-page story illustrating Alan Moore’s song “The Hair of the Snake That Bit Me” in NEGATIVE BURN #17. Bill also did the painted cover for that issue. Additionally, he drew Dave Louapre’s BAD VIBE IN SUCKTOWN, appearing in NEGATIVE BURN #15.
