    What's in the Box?

This issue was amazing and my second favourite issue in this whole series today (behind Rorschach). It is amazingly written by Staczynski and beautiful art from Adam Hughes. Straczynski has really tackled the big guy well as I thought he'd be one of the harder to do, but what I think makes this character written better than the likes of Ozymandias is that he has not been made too complexed or given too many big words, he just feels the exact same as he did in the original series or film.

This issue is basically a memory issue of Dr. Manhattan who goes back and forth from his childhood up until not long after he became a superhero. It starts with him at a funeral realising mysteries come in boxes and recollecting back to when he was a child and he'd get presents like a kitten, toy bear, baseball and glove and finally a clock, which he's told by his dad shows that time has power and that a second can be the difference from life or death. This is were he remembers having to go and get his jacket which caused him to be caught in the blast that turned him to the way he is. He then remembers parts from his life when he worked with clocks, to the time he spent with Janey Slater his girlfriend from before and after his accident. He then remembers when he first joined a super team and when he meats Silk Spectre and starts to love her more than Janey. He makes it so he is paired with her instead of Rorschach like he should have been. He then goes back and sees what happened if he didn't get caught in the explosion and realises if he's not in the box like he should be, what is?

Final verdict. As I said at the start this is by far the second best issue in this series so far and that's probably cause I'm a bit more biased to Rorschach who is my favourite character from the original series and who I was happy was written very well. Anyway this is an amazing comic and I would highly recommend it as it is beautifully drawn and is masterfully written.

    Rating: 4.5/5
