fallschirmjager's Batwoman #27 - Webs: In the Blood review

    Yeah, I'm staying.

So a few issues ago J.H. Willaims left Batwoman and it was fairly publicized (for reasons I'm not going to get into).

And then all of a sudden there was worry on the horizon as if fans would want to stay on the title. J.H. had done such wonderful work with Kate, giving us good stories and arguably the best artwork being done in DC's New 52 right now. (seriously if you haven't checked out the first 24 issues of Batwoman, do it. They're gorgeous)

By now of course we've seen two pretty damn good issues by the new creative team of Andreyko/Haun. The characters still feel the same, their development keeps progressing and it still feels like Batwoman.

And honestly...despite the fact that it may no longer be legendary anymore - the art is still very good. Its one of those things you should just not compare to the previous work because its not going to do anything.

Moving on to the actual content of this issue - it was very good. We spend most of the issue exploring Kate's psyche as she wills herself to overcome a poison she hit with in the previous issue. She does of course and manages to save herself.

We also get a little dose of Hawkfire here which is also a plus.

The main advancement of the plot here comes from Wolf-Spider and his employer. Its still nothing ground breaking yet but was enough foreshadowing to move things along quickly.

The big event in this issue however is Kate coming home to Maggie and patching herself up after having a bit of a hard time and meets a certain someone for the first time with her hand in the cookie jar so to say. It will be really interesting to see how this effects Kate and Maggie's relationship going forward!

Bottom line. I think I've seen enough from the new creative team to know I'm staying. It still feels like Batwoman to me and that is what was important.

      A bit familiar? 0

We're three issues into Andreyko's run on Batwoman. And thusfar, his fun has been good. Not great but certainly not bad. I definitely plan on sticking with Batwoman (something I've been on the fence about since Williams and Blackman left the series). Let's talk about the issue.Art:Jeremy Haun does an excellent job in the art department. I'd say his art, while inferior to Williams', is on par with Trevor McCarthy's. The issue persists that some characters' faces look a bit off - particularly out ...
