    Synopsis

Batwing and Batman team up! What will happen when the Citadel, home to the ex-superhero team The Kingdom is opened to the public?

    The Good

Ben Oliver is back on art duties and boy did I miss him! It's pretty much the same as issue #1-3, but I do love his work. In particular, there are some great panels including the two Bats leaping into action, a fantastic double-page spread of the Citadel and many others.

We also get a further glimpse at the atrocities David and his brother were forced to do by General Keita....it's brutal. You can see why Batwing is so haunted by his past! This in turns affects the anger the hero is displaying more and more of.  When innocents are in harm's way in one scene, he starts to vent on the one responsible, and you can tell David's psyche is still very much broken from his destructive childhood.

    The Bad

We still don't have a clue who Massacre is five issues in, I would of hoped by now the reader would be told who and why this villain is cutting down ex-heroes. The overall pacing of the story arc is too slow for my tastes, I'm more used to the three-issue arcs that greats such as 2009's Batman and Robin gave us!

If I were to critique the art, it would be the lack of detail in the backgrounds. That's not to say there isn't again, some panels like the last page prove that Ben Oliver is capable of doing so but that's one issue that has consistantly stuck througout the series.

    Conclusion

Looks fantastic and it was cool to see Batwing work alongside Batman! However, I think this story arc needs tying up quickly so we can move on. Better than last issue though!

Oh look, Ben Oliver's back on art duties! Yay! But he's off cover duties! Boo! It just... isn't the same. Ben Oliver's art is one of the biggest things that gives this book such a unique feel from beginning to end, the drastically different and much more standard cover offsets that a bit. It just doesn't excite me very much like the other covers. But let's focus on the positives? At least his interior art is intact. A bizarrely gorgeous blend of simple pencil work and super detailed coloring. And...

More with the orgin to what drives Batwing. And it’s nonetheless fantastic writing and accompanied by fantastic art work. David Zavimbe being another Batman in the Democratic Republic of Congo does stand on his own. What I like about this title is that it explores a whole new world and environment from Gotham City. Bruce Wayne being the financing of Batman Incorporated puts himself a target. Batwing and Batman team up as we come to conclusion of this story arc. I rate this book a 4.5 rating of 5...
