Batwing #19: Should I Buy It?

If you have been reading this series before this issue, then yes! You should definitely pick up this issue, because it ties everything together nicely and gives a nice ending to the story.

The art is nice; Nothing noticeably amazing, but very solid good art. If you read the book you will know what I mean when I say, it feels like there are two stories going on in this book. David's story and then a brief introduction to this new Batwing at the end.

I very much enjoyed David's story. I felt that it was very well done and wrapped up the previous 18 issues nicely. The problem I had, was with the introduction to this new Batwing, and how Batman was portrayed in this issue.

Firstly, when does this fit in. This does not correspond AT ALL with the other book as Batman is very calm and smiling a lot. I don't like how they introduced this new Batwing. Without revealing too much, it doesn't seem like something Batman would do and it feels like they dumbed him down. I was also expecting this new character to fit in with David but in a way, it's good that he didn't. I just seemed... off how they suddenly bring in a new character.

Should you buy it? I think you definitely should if you've been reading the book before hand. If you picked this up to try something new, I think the next issue is the place to start as we didn't get much insight to this new Batwing. And I did enjoy the issue so I think it's worth a read.

I'm not sure what Batman's supposed to be doing the way he is one the cover, but his presence does make sense. This is a BRILLIANT foldout cover, the way the twist of a new Batwing is revealed, but the identity is still in question. I gotta say, I LOVE the design for the new Batwing, even if it does seem a bit like Batman Beyond mixed with classic Nightwing. David Zavimbe's Batwing was a little more unique, but the new Batwing's armor is sleeker, and cooler. Though the helmet looks a bit owl-is...

      BatWatch Review: Batwing #19 0

A Season of ChangeTwo weeks ago on the day comics came out, I woke up, and the first thing I did was buy and download Batwing and skip to the end to find out who would next be wearing the mantle. I almost never do this sort of thing, but this question had been nagging at me for over a month, and I did not want to be tortured all day at work wondering who it was, so I peeked. Despite the fact that it was the first issue I looked at that day, I have not reviewed it until now. I go in order of popu...
