Really nice article, I kinda feel bad for Bruce now, he's sucked up into his own life
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23630 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Why 'Batman' Would Make A Terrible Boyfriend

I do not think Batman would be suitable for anyone's love interest no arguing it. But I do not agree with Batman being insane Grant Morrison and Greg Rucka disagree with you.

I also think Bruce is over his Parents deaths and has moved on being Batman and that if he never did be Batman he would slowly become even worse. His paranoia is just a unfortunate side affect of the eighties in stories like OMAC Project it is a bad thing and does not serve the character him being paranoid actually hurts the character more than helps. Him sleeping around is the mistake of editorial...or giving Tony Daniel a Bat Book. He does know women in his life would be in danger which is why he normally avoids serious relationships or is teased at being in one with another costumed person so they are already in danger and can chose to be with him.
I completely agree with what was said here in the interview and Johnny_Spam. This is why its hard to pin Batman as one or the other as he's a much more complicated character than others. With the level of danger a girlfriend of his would be in it should be someone who knows the danger and can take care of herself.
@JoseDRiveraTCR7: Yet Return of Bruce Wayne and Arkham Asylum are about making a more level headed Batman with less negative emotions to make him a more effective crime fighter.
As many people have pointed out Batman is not schizophrenic, that's characterised by delusions and psychosis. I don't even think he has an identiy disorder, he doesn't really have split personalities rather just layers to himself, it goes Playboy-billonaire Bruce Wayne < Batman < The hidden Bruce Wayne whose a father to his Robins, friend to Superman and see Alfred as a father figure.
If I had to suggest a mental disorder I'd think he had elements of something less severe, Schizoid personality disorder (actually unrelated to Schizophrenia despite the name). It's a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness and sometimes (sexual) apathy, with a simultaneous rich, elaborate and exclusively internal fantasy world.
Nearly all of those could be applied to him at some point. You could say he's unique though that he draws people (Robin, Alfred) into his little world, but for the most part he doesn't have conventional relationships.
Another possibility is potential Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, he has elements like reliving the events and hyper-arousal, but he doesn't avoid triggers (like well gun wielding thugs) or experience any emotional numbing, it doesn't impact his chosen life that much.
Is Batman crazy? No, but he's not completely normal.

@Babs: You make me laugh. Batman would be a bad boyfriend, you hate Cyclops but you love Namor?! Namor is the biggest douche bag in comics, the guy only goes after women that are either married (Invisible Woman) or in long term relationships (Emma Frost). I would say though that the best boyfriend in comics would have to be Tim Drake. He has all of Batman's intellect but doesn't have to maintain a playboy image like his dad. He also isn't a horn-ball like Nightwing or a killer like Jason Todd. Though if Jason Todd sounds like Jansen Ackles it might be close.
On the girlfriend front, you totally have to go Black Canary, assertive without being crazy. Sexy without being skanky. She is damn near the perfect super hero girlfriend.
I'm gonna try to clear this up one more time. I don't actually like Namor. Of all guys that would be bad to date, Namor is the worst. The whole thing is a big joke. :P
If Bruce hadn't died on that night, he would have been a great boyfriend. Then he wouldn't have been Batman. Then the criminals may not be born especially Joker. Then we wouldn't have been reading his comics. Then again, he would have been great as Batman. So why Batman would make a terrible boyfriend? Because he's Batman.

Batman is the greatest comicbook character ever created.
Seriously dude, my name is MR.OBVIOUS and I coulda told u dat.
Batman isnt really insane more like insanely driven. But yeah his Girlfriends are just ticking timebombs as victims.
Overtly dark, schizoidal, mother issues and never around when you needed them. Think I dated Batman for three months in college.
Bruce Wayne can be in a long term relationship but he has too many issues with his other identity as Batman and Batman has extremely too many issues with trusting someone.

"i'm a rich kid with issues. LOTS of issues"
I read JLA Omega today (started reading) and in Bogeyman, Dick Grayson's a MUCH nicer Batman (to Kara) than Bruce. And i like reading the "terrible boyfriend" articles
i read that new batman hardcover book where he tried the whole love thing but in the end his lover got murdered by a man he had just started to open him self too this that may have made the situation worse but if he ever decides to settle dow and have a family he should it with selina
To be fair the whole, "Throwing them into Arkham" argument isn't exactly a valid point. Batman takes the more colorful villains to Arkham because there is no other place to put them. Just because Arkham is an absolute failure of an institution and allows their inmates to escape time and time again does not mean it's batman's fault. if anything, the ones running the asylum are the crazy ones.
