Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
It depends on the movie. But if it happens elsewhere than Gotham and if it's not about the transition from Robin to Nightwing, I don't see why Batman should necessarely show up.
@rurgandy: Its not such a weird question maybe they want to distance Nightwing from that and make him his own hero. Plus I wanted to see what other people think, cause people may think he shouldn't. I mean if they say Batman isn't appearing in Nightwing it wouldn't be a big shock
I hope Batman plays a big role and Nightwing is only shown for 2 minutes in his own movie. I need more Batman content since I stopped caring about the comics.
Only briefly in flashback's and mentioned. In the present time of the movie, he shouldn't. I do want Babs or maybe Alfred to be in the movie, but Bruce should be used sparingly.
The movie I'm expecting will be set in Bludhaven as Dick first arrives there. Dick will have been estranged from Bruce for years (further explaining the bitter and angry Batman from BvS) and been operating solo as Nightwing since he left Gotham. There will be plenty of flashbacks explaining Dick's history and Bruce needs to be shown in those, but the movie will be about Dick being his own man and maybe at the end, Bruce calls him and tries to reconcile.

His origin is tied to Batman, and it always will be.
##@rurgandy: of course I'm not denying that I'm just saying that I see it as a possibility of Batman not being in the movie, maybe being alluded to. I'm not saying I want that ,just that it's in the realm of possibility
There's no way they'd make a Nightwing movie without Batman making an appearance. And I think it would be weird if they tried to. He would be the elephant in the room. Well, the bat in the room at least...
Batman is important to Dick Grayson's life more than his real father ever was. They are best friends and family. Besides, who else could get him a costume as flexible as cloth and more bulletproof than a kevlar vest.
