    Nolans Batman had no scientific knowledge at all, and that worked out fine

    It's impossible to remove his scientific knowledge, otherwise he wouldn't be the best detective in the world, and you can't remove his deductive mind as well. Tough decision here, 'cause Batman is Batman for all of those knowledge..

    @alexander505 Technically, he could still be the greatest detective without the scientific knowledge. Contracted/police forensic scientists handle the physical evidence from crime scenes while the detectives deal with interrogation, interviewing, networking and evaluating the results of the forensic work.

    @frozezone: You need chemistry, biology, medicine and computer science as scientific knowledge..

    To be a detective? Detectives don't typically go to medical school. The fields you listed were relevant to forensic scientists, forensic pathologists and digital forensics investigators. Detectives work with these people but they've got their own unique set of skills.
