@Twentyfive: I don't understand why its never been used in a movie. Neal Adams always said that if Batman existed he would have to look the way that Neal drew him
@NEEK_03: I have to disagree. As much as I love the Nolan Batman films I feel they over emphasize armor. I believe that normally Bruce only wears a chest plate, allowing him to move more freely. the cowl is supposed to be like reinforced kevlar but the suit is supposed to be breathable and move easily. He wears a bright yellow circle around the bat symbol to act as a target to draw bullets and the cape serves the function of making it hard to tell exactly where his body is. I believe the Neal Adams suit would make more sense.
@SuperShafe: If Batman was real, he would get shot and hit, using Kevlar would mean he would end dead, Kevlar isnt as strong as many people belive.
Using an armour type costume makes sense, because he will get shot many times.
Also the yellow thing, isnt part of the original Batman suit and was put there years later.
Also, the logo would work any way, most of people would shot at the logo because people shot at the heart and brains.
Also Adam West used that suit, so some one used the costume in a movie.
Also he is Batman, Bats are black, not blue, he has to hide himself from people so he cant attack from the shadow and people dont know what he is.
Using a suit with colors would destroy that, the yellow logo would make everybody see him coming to them and the blue thing would make hard to people belive he isnt human.
The Black costume make him less human, Batman wants to be more that a human in his enemies mind, so it works better.
I mean even if they use a Grey and Black costumes in the next movies, it would need to be a very dark grey.

Well the point i was working towards would be if batman actually existed he would need a heavily armored suit. and the yellow would take away from the stealth of the costume. however i agree he would need to move more freely just like he states even in the movie.

SuperShafe is right on everything...except I'm not sure if the more comic based look would actually work in a movie. I'd like to see it tried though.

I'm pretty sure this is my favorite sentence ever.
Chris Nolans batman costumes are my favourite. Its very modern look it also provides very good functions. And its based on military grade armour. Thats cool.

I don't really dig the all-black suits, I like the classic blue cowl + cape, yellow belt and the yellow oval symbol. George Clooney's is hands down THE worst.
My favourites are the Hush batsuit, The Animated Series and No Man's Land.
In terms of live action, these two are my favorite:
The Michael Keaton suit is the best of the previous film suits because it was basic and even though the materials are not what we know of from the comics or what would get used today it was still the best looking superhero costume of its time. I put it ahead of the Batman Begins suit as well (even with fake abs) because of the bulky, squareness the BB suit has. TDK and TDKR suit is technically my favorite live-action suit and while the neck and cowl do look a bit strange I think this type of design should continue to be used and would look much better on a more better built Batman than Bale was (surprising to say cause he was built for BB but in the last two films he was noticeably smaller and the slimmer design of the second suit made him look too small).
In terms of comics, these two:
You can't beat a classic look when it comes to Batman. I've never been a fan of changing the suit to have lighter blues or having a yellow symbol (yeah, I know I've got a picture of that above but that's live action as compared to original source). It just doesn't set the right tone for Batman.
There is something just very cool and primal about the suit in Batman Beyond....and its made even better by this latest arc in Batman Beyond Unlimited where Terry dons an earlier version of his suit that still had a cape. I know it kind of detracts from the look and feel of Batman Beyond, but when you look at it it just feels right that even in the future Batman should have a cape. Its far more intimidating than glider wings and conveys that demonic, creature of the night that Bruce was going for in creating something that will frighten criminals even more than actually pounding on them. I know they'll probably scrap the look (they may have already as I haven't read the latest issue) but I wish they would keep it. It just makes Terry's suit look so much better.
I like the ones that are more than one colour. Grey with black logo (BTAS-ish, Arkham City, DCnU) and Blue with yellow logo (classic) are my favs. The Beyond suit is cool, but not for Bruce Wayne (it's too slim and not scary enough without the cape of doom). I also like the ragged edged cape, not the flat cuts were usually see in live action (it adds a lot of drama to the costume, and looks awesome).
Never liked the all-black you see in a lot of the movies. either you can't see the logo properly (black on black) or it looks silly and out of place (giant yellow disc on an otherwise black suit).

Yeah it's a bit monochrome, but I'm really digging his New 52 costume
Plausable, yet graceful. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for Earth-One titles in general.
I'd also second for Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, it was fucking terrifying, ironically so I believe.
I Really like the Earth one costume

I dislike all the movie costumes. Nolan's costumes were cool but they can't beat the comic book costumes.
