If that's true, then my suspicion of Bruce Timm using Batman as an alpha male power fantasy is true. It's impossible to deny that Timm makes every other man look incompetent next to Bats and every woman want to bang him. Hell, if it the show was a higher rating, Lois would have slept with Bruce during the Superman/Batman cartoon crossover.

I'll ship it as long as it means getting Harley away from Ivy, infact bring it on.
As much as I hate that pair and thinks it goes against both characters (which is really really alot) I think HQ and BM are almost as bad.
I honestly dont see the problem and I hate Harley, if they're going to make a 75 minute movie then might as well have them romance. It'll be better than Batman mindlessly chasing her as if she's Catwoman or trying to stop her supposedly brilliant schemes as if she's Joker. Besides Timm's Harley is a decent and enjoyable character, unlike the obnoxious version that exists in comics today.

Batman's safe, no one will seriously ship them together apart from Tumblr, Harley/Ivy is a disease that has infected creators.
I don't have any problem with it, besides didn't Amanda Conner hooked them up already? I only saw some scans. Same with Batgirl, Lois or any women Timm paired with Bruce, even if some of those happened in AUs. Not to mention he created Harley, if WB/DC is allowing it I don't see the problem specially when it's probably one movie thing.
- Thats such a weird relationship..He so broody and shes so goofy and wacky.. Poison Ivy, Lady Shiva or Catwoman would make way more sense.
- I don't really dig the idea it or particular understand the point..But hay i,m open minded so ill check it out when they release it.
I don't see them being paired romantically, but if they are... not the best idea. I don't think Harley works as a character outside of the abused sidekick role.
@rustyroy: Amanda Conner had them kiss at the end of the Valentine's Day Special. Harley saves Bruce Wayne from a bunch of villains and she mugged a corrupt jew to win an auction for a date with him. After kissing Bruce Wayne, she kisses batman. Apparently Bruce Wayne is a much better kisser.
While I don't see where the whole "ship" idea is coming from (they're just sharing a movie, we know nothing more), I don't see how this is a big deal. First, Harley pretty much flirts with anything that moves at this point, and Batman himself has been on the receiving end of Harley's flirting before, so I believe any "shipping" the movie will have won't exceed what we saw before. Second, this is just a single movie, so whatever happens in it won't spill into other media or even future Animated films. Finally, I'm personally all for phasing out Catwoman as Batman's go to love interest, and while I don't think a character should have more than 2-3 serious love interests, if DC wants to go with Harley, I'm OK with it, although I think it's pretty much a dead end as far as story potential go, so I'm not worried it would stick.

While some people may have legitimate concerns but even in this thread there are people against it because Harley is becoming a sex icon and they dont want Batman to be seen as a bigger stud than he already is. Basic insecurity, which is par the course for Batman related topics on these forums.

Basically this is all you, that are worried, need to consider. It's not big of a deal and Batman has been with too many women already, don't see a problem if he's ever had an affair with Harley.

I wouldn't call Catwoman his go to love interest, I don't remember them having a serious relationship in the main Batman books since ages.

He probably noticed Harley Quinn's rise of popularity and is banking off it to keep Batman relevant. Not that Bats would of slipped but it's a possibility.
As far as I'm aware he created Harley Quinn if DC is OK with it he should create whatever story he wants to write with her. Whether I watch it is up to how he does it.
You're joking right? His using Batman's name to make Harley more popular, it's not the other way around. And yeah, he created Harley.
@ecstaticgrace said:
@rustyroy: Relevant and Popular are two different things mate. Harley is already popular. Her solo and several title appearance, media appearances and film appearance pretty much cement that.
The thing is she's whats "hot" these days and I see that being the reason Timm is connecting the two of them. If Katana was a breakout hit I could see Timm doing the same thing. It's his alpha male interpretation of Bruce. Cause God knows Batman is the only character at DC who could use this extra media attention.
Equivalent if Marvel when making the Avengers Cofidential movie decided to replace Punisher with Ironman. Sure Ironman's what is big right now for Marvel and Black Widow has a popularity spike during the Avengers but another character could use it.
There still showhorning Stark into things like they similarly do to Batman.
You said he's using Harley's popularity to keep Batman relevant, but that's not the case mate. Batman is still more relevant and popular than Harley, She hasn't made any media appearance on her own, she was always part of assemble and this wouldn't be the first time WB tried to make her more popular by using Batman's name, Batman Assault on Arkham had Batman's name on it, SS marketing used Batman and Joker, not to mention Smith's Deadshot was a big factor in that. Also DC animation producers already have said that they'll use Batman and JL to make other characters more popular, that's what's happening here.
I don't understand how this is being taken in a sexual/romantic way. The damn thing literally just says "A new and original story by Bruce Timm".
@ecstaticgrace: That doesn't make sense, Harley is the one who rides the coattails of other characters and franchises. Her most famous association is with Joker and Ivy, without Batman, his world and his mainstream media ventures Harley is nothing. Even her upcoming film will have BOP and GCS characters, count on it.
In any event if Timm wants Batman to bang her then it's the best thing he ever thought of in a while.

@rustyroy: I never suggested Batman was less popular, what I suggested was Harley was what is hot right now and Timm is banking off that. I don't know of this will be mutually beneficial to both characters so I won't use that Term. But Timm's involvement suggest Batman's going to come off looking great in any format he sees the word.
Again, the producers of DC animated movies have said that they're using Batman to make other characters more popular. And you're right about this not being mutually beneficial because Harley will profit because of Batman's name but Batman won't profit because of Harley's name.

Who benefited off "The Killing Joke" adaption?
The producers, because of Batman's name the movie made so much money, they're also going to release that new Batman movie in theaters, guess why? Because of Batman.
