Are the issues in the R.I.P story line any good or is it like one of the last recent issues, Batman #663; vague and 'out of character'?

Is it written as an actual continuity story arc; or does it feel like an Elseworlds story, or something that was just thrown in to get more issues out?

I don't agree at all with the apparent end to Batman himself once R.I.P ends: but I wanted to know if these issues (the current, latest releases for anything Batman), are worth buying and re-reading. =)

It's actually continuity, most everything in the main Batman series is. If you're a Batman fan, I would suggest getting it. Just the title brings chills down my spine.

Right; thanks for both replies, Hancock and Nighthunter!

Since I live in Australia, 80% of comics have to be imported personally OR via a store; so I can't just 'go down to the shop and pick it up'.

True that. In the words of the writers, "last chance to say good buy."

So, if I were you I would front the extra shipping charge and buy them :o)

Yeah; except that SOMETIMES we get the 'current' issues so late, the TPBs are released first! D:

For the record: I've gone and tracked down original issues of the RIP arc.

definitely especially since you like the joker, the first issue of RIP has a whole new artistic take on him.

I'd have to wait till my issues arrive next week or so; from the last 'current Joker story' (Morrison's Clown at..), I am not at all happy. I mean, it's been done before (see: Tim Burton's film, which I won't comment on), and.. it's just useless re-writing. Joker is perfect as he is- like how Batman is fine as he is. Additional scars/botched surgeries isn't a good move, after 50+ years of his already permanent disfigurement: do we really need DC to point out to the loyal fans (old and new) that he has a clownish grin? =(

I certainly don't like this story arc. The additions on the joker are superfluous and they add nothing to the character that wasn't already there before.

I would just like to see Bats go the Captain America route for a while who someone other than Bruce be him.
