I personally don't want Swamp Thing back in the DCU.
Losing to Batman would ruin the greatest of Volume. 2 and wouldn't improve Batman.
If he beats Batman again, then its been done before kind of stuff.

I don't have an instance at the moment, but I have been reading both Batman and Swamp Thing for years. and it just seemed somewhere that they did something to retcon the fight. but like I said I can't think of what it was. but if i find it or remember it i'll let you know.
I'll go back and read through my collections after their first encounter which was the prepped one in Giant Size Swamp Thing.

Color me clueless, but exactly why does it matter if Swamp Thing beat Batman or vice versa?

Dan Didio wants Swamp Thing back in the DCU. and Swamp Thing and Batman have met and fought in the past. Swamp Thing won on both occasions. and now that Swamp Thing is returning. The Vertigo community which I'm part of feels this is just a ploy so that they can pit Batman and Swamp Thing back together and rectify, two of Batman's very few losses. and I kind of agree. and I kind of Don't, I'm a Batman fan, and a Swamp Thing fan and too me it's no big deal. but Swamp Thing has become a Vertigo staple. and taking him away from vertigo would be like taking Superman out of DC. also Didio wants make the Watchmen in canon with the rest of the DCU, and give the their own world within the DCU. Didio is screwing up big time in his new position.
