There hasn't been a lot coming from the set of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Seems Warner Bros is a bit more guarded about next year's blockbuster film, which will hit theaters on March 25, 2016. There's been a teaser and a couple photos here and there, but nothing compared to what we're seeing come from other films.

However, with the Licensing Expo starting tomorrow in Las Vegas, Collider got their hands on the first official synopsis for the upcoming film. Check it out:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

The synopsis is pretty much what we expected, for the most part. However, there's one thing we don't know. Who or what is this new threat that quickly rises? From what we know of, from the cast, there's not really any villains here, aside from Lex Luthor. Could he be the new threat? One that's big enough to take on both Batman AND Superman? Looks like we'll have to wait to find out.

Hype intensifies.

Pretty much what a lot of people were expecting, I think. But I'm hyped. Bring on 2016!

So Superman battles off an invasion -after being put in chains- actually kills someone to protect the planet, does nothing menacing in any way but the world is still scared of him. What a worthless race we are. I hope at least that aspect of it will be addressed in this story.

Interesting. Assuming Luthor won't be threatening all of mankind right off the bat, and apparently more so than Zod with the World Engine, I wonder who it could be..

We haven't heard much from the set because the movie finished filming last year. Anyway I'm super-pumped, and you can bet I'll be camping out for the Hall H panel for this.

When the other Batman or DC/ Marvel movies have been announced in the past years, even back to 1990, has there been this much revealed between the (imo a much too early) announcement and release of the film? This seems like all this info should have been started to be announced around now, but not 2 years ago.

I will probably love the heck out of this movie but geez waiting this long has been an exercise in patience. Maybe it wouldn't have been this bad if they didn't keep globs of info over a couple years.

I think the new threat is Doomsday.

I hope not.

When I see Doomsday, I want there to be a dead Superman.

I hear DC is going to rock CC this year by having Suicide Squad teasers, the release date of Batman and Superman's solo movies and that they might re-do the dates of their line-up for us.

And if he protects a world by killing thousands to millions from aliens attracted to him by his own actions, he is the biggest threat to the planet.

Superman is also the reason that Darkseid becomes interested in Earth New 52, which continues the thirty year trend of Superman making the enemies that kill thousands he tries to save.

@jasoninthewoods: it is which beyond Snyder's love for Miller has got to be the most Synder thing in this movie. Yes lets use the brutish character who's known for only one thing and not use him for that but ya know what he'll look good in speed ramping.

I'm really interested to find out what Batman's plan is here. There's no way he just turns up in a fancy suit expecting to fight Superman and not get his ass whooped. He's got to have a plan.

Definitely, but they're probably all at least 2 years away from appearing in costume so it's unlikely. Though, I definitely wouldn't complain lol

@senglord: You can't blame a person for just existing. In the movie (which is what I'm referencing), he didn't even know about his origins and despite his powers didn't go into crime or anything, he just wandered and when called upon he did offer himself up. Then he still fought to keep Earth safe. Remove him, kill him and Zod or Darksied or whoever comes sooner or later anyway.

This movie is so far off I can't keep hyping myself up with every little detail they release. Time to black out BVS like I've done since Arkham Knights first delay. If it wasn't for Star Wars and Ant-Man I wouldn't sit in another theater until March.

Pretty general plot synopsis, but the Doomsday rumor feels a lot more legit now.

There's a problem I see with Batman's goal...as in there doesn't seem to be one? The synopsis implies that Superman hasn't done anything wrong, people are just afraid that if he does do something wrong, there's nothing they can do to stop him. So Batman wants to prove that the world can still defend itself in the face of a godlike being. That's cool and all... but how is Batman going to settle that?

Batman isn't going to kill Superman, obviously. That's just murder even if he could. He can't get Superman arrested, because Superman hasn't committed a crime. If Man of Steel was any indication, Batman is basically going to cause billions of dollars worth of property damage, not to mention countless lost of life just to prove an extremely dickish and childish point.

Honestly, what's the "best case scenario" for Bruce here?

Sounds about right for a Batman Vs Superman storyline. I think it's safe to say that it'll at least be a cool blockbuster action movie if not a groundbreaker. I mean, who cares about breaking box office records or changing the way we think about movies. As long as it's fun that's all we can ask for.

No, but this sorta confirms that Batman is the bad guy for the first part of this movie.

Sigh, I'm struggling to get hyped for this. The teaser really didn't float my boat and now the information we're getting just doesn't interest me. Don't get me wrong, I still want to see the film but I'm just not interested at the moment. It's like they gave Superman a film and now they're panicking because they think he didn't do good enough. This is basically gearing up to make him the bad guy and Bats the good guy. It's just not fun. If I see another teaser which shows more of Superman doing what he does best, then I may change my tune but at the moment it's got nothing for me to hold on to. That's a shame.
