Although DC Comics never authorized the production of this movie, Warhol still created it due to his love for the classic Batman serials. The movie was only shown at his art exhibits and is a homage paid by Warhol to the character itself. The movie is considered the first appearance of a blatant "campy" Batman. The movie, which was at one time considered lost, turned up in 2006 when some of it's scenes were shown in the documentary Jack Smith and the Destruction of Atlantis.
