The Whales are Screaming!
This is an odd mix of funny, (there's a dog in the batsub) and disturbing as all hell. Most of this book is fairly procedural like the rest of the Batman and (insert hero here) single issue arcs have been since Damian died. Batman finds a new clue to the whereabouts of his two favorite corpses and on the way bumps into Aquaman, who's art depiction in this book is not to my liking.
Most of the dialogue between Batman and Aquaman is very no bullshit and business-like. The highlights of the comic aren't in the writing, but in the events like Damian's dog stowing away on the batsub. Batman has to fight a bunch of mutant Damian 2.0 clones, which is really dark, but works well with the theme this series has had for the last year.
By far my favorite part of the book was Aquaman mind-controlling a whale to eat a bunch of baddies Pinocchio style, then ship them down to Atlantis to be regurgitated into prison cells. It was a practical, and entertaining use of the king of Atlantis' less popular power.
There is one thing: I remember being told that under no uncertain terms that Damian was dead and not coming back, yet in this issue Ra's al Ghul makes it known to Batman that he plans on reviving Damian and his mother. Why even tease it if its not going to happen? It seems either pointless or evil and diabolical, either way, stick to your guns DC.
