The solicit says it all. Probably should read THE BATMAN STORY OF THE YEAR. This issue deals with the events from Batman Inc. #8.

This is very reminiscent of Batman #433 in the sense that it is all silent (wordless) and that we see how certain characters deal with the death of a member of the Bat Family. This issue deals with mostly Batman's reaction to the loss of his son, but it is nice to see some of Alfred's reaction as well. I think it would be great to at least have a backup story to see how Alfred fully deals with Damian's death. Maybe make that issue #24, Batman and Alfred.

This art here is excellent. It has to be because it is the only thing and we have to guide use through the story. After reading a few other Batman titles recently, I thought to myself that Batman is better when he only says a few words. I felt those thoughts were affirmed after seeing how powerful a book can be without words.

We follow Batman from the mansion, to the cave, out on patrol, and back to the cave. It does a great job of showing us how Batman is sad, angry, lost, focused, and alone. He is alone in the house with Alfred and all the memories of Damian. He remembers what it was like to have his son there with him by his side out on patrol. Baddies of Gotham are probably the most upset by Batman's loss as Batman pours himself into cleaning up the streets. Then the issue ends with Batman discovering something Damian left behind. It's a very real moment.

I don't think that I could image the pain felt after losing a child. I have four children and I know I would be completely worthless if anything ever happened to one of them. But this issue does give you some insight to how crushing that loss would be. And Batman is not only losing a son, but his partner. Some one who has a fought with, risked everything with, someone who he has bled with. I not sure if you have ever fought along side someone in a real fight before, but let me tell you it truly is a bonding experience you can never forget.

As much as the circumstances of Damian's death, and his death altogether, have really bugged me, I am thankful that it happened because we got to have this issue. It is an absolute classic. My friend has referenced this quote before but I am not sure where it comes from but, "People won't always remember the things you've said, but they will never forget how you made them feel." Fitting description for this issue. Five out of Five green boots.

      A Very Moving Issue 0

I have really enjoyed this series, and although it's had it's ups and downs it's been a very fun series. This issue however isn't fun, as it shows the aftermath of Batman, Incorporated #8, and how Batman is dealing with his loss.PlotBatman is in morning after the death of his son, Damian Wayne. This silent issue shows how Damian's death has affected his father, whilst also showing some of Batman's memories of Damian.ReviewThis was probably the most emotional issue I have ever read, and by far th...

UndoneEverybody get your tissue boxes ready because Peter J. Tomasi (former editor of Hitman and current writer for Batman and Robin and Green Lantern Corps) and Patrick Gleason (former artist for Robin and cover artist for Arkham City: End Game and current penciler for Batman and Robin) are about to unleash some serious emotional devastation on us. The team that has manged to put more heart into their issues than most other Batman series combined will now have the mother of all potential heart ...
