    Batman #700 Review 1

SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content.Bruce Wayne. Dick Grayson. Damian Wayne. Terry McGinnis. These four men have a common trait. They're in the high-profile 700th issue of Batman. For a comic that's exactly 60 years old, it managed to insert all its history without dealing with the leftover bulk. This is not only a visit through all of Batman's history, it also has an engaging story that manages to link the past, the present, the future, and the beyond, all into one. It is my h...

    To 700 more. 0

The Giant Sized 700th issue of Batman spans across three generations of Batmen.  From Bruce Wayne, To Dick Grayson, To Damian Wayne, all of them try to solve a crime that ties into each generation.      What You Need To Know. Grant Morrison writes the monumental issue with the help of 5 different Artists.  Tony Daniel, Frank Quietly, Scott Kolins, Andy Kubert, and in his first work inside a DC issue David Finch.     The Story The Good.Grant Morrison writes the entire issue, fittingly, as he is t...

700 issues of driving you Bats! 0

Finally we reached 700 issues after eons of reading the exploits of the Batman. First off lets start with the covers, the regular is drawn by David Finch, and the variant by fan favorite Mike Mignola. Both of them did such a lovely job, but personally I'd go with Mike Mignola depending if you had the money to spend (also depending on your comic book shop.).      First off this is a Milestone issue and it reads just like one, but a nice one at that. If you never read a Grant Morrison story, or...

    Happy 700!!! 0

Summary:   Taken from 4 chapters, Batman is explored through the past, present, and future (also distant future). The story focus on one item called the Joker's Jokebook that every Batman and Villian want in time.   The Good:   After a good year, Batman #700 returns with Batman's most notorious writer, Grant Morrison. To me no other writer could stack to where this man stands for a Batman Issue. And you could tell this was a Grant issue because of the intertwining stories of the past, present an...

    700? That's A Whole Lotta Batman 0

Plot & Action: Grant Morrison does what you do in an anniversary issue: he travels back through the mythos of Batman. He does it in a clever way: Three Batmen solving this time-bending mystery. He also ties in "The Return of Bruce Wayne" some, okay with one line right now, to root it in current continuity. As far as a story goes, it's one of the better anniversary issues I've read. It's a fun story. Character Work: With all the villains and Batmen, there's an opportunity to have characters l...

No Matter When, No Matter Where, No Matter How Dark 1

What is Batman? Is it a rich boy's cry for help? A psychotic's desperate masquerade at some kind of sanity? An insecure little man clinging to relevance in a world of gods? Is he a hero? A vigilante? A knight of shadows? Or the only light left in a dark world?   To me, Batman is the greatest fictional character ever created, he is all of the above, he is none of the above. As Grant Morrison shows us, Batman is a person, he is an icon, he is a symbol, he is a myth, he is one man, he is many. A lo...

Batman 700 or a Value Meal at BK? 16

I will tell you a true story.  Today for lunch I wanted to grab BK.  I don't know if it different outside Canada, but today the Whopper is on special.  So I remembered this when hunger pains struck.  I raced outside to catch a bus to the Mall.  Once I boarded the bus I realized I was low on funds and payday is Friday.... Okay, I think... Well I can get the Value Meal it is cheap.  The darn comic shop is before the food court and Jimmy (The guy at the desk calls out, John!)....  John is not my re...

This is more than a milestone 0

I thought this issue would be a good start to review Batman (since I'm still kind of new to Comicvine).   First, I have to say this: 700 issues is incredible. Batman has come a long long way. For years, many writers and artist have taken Batman into all sorts of new directions. From Year One that retold the story of Batman's beginning, To Death in a Family, where the Joker did the unthinkable when killing Jason Todd (actually fans of Batman killed him but you get the idea). In Knighfall where Ba...

    short and sweet review! 0

The good I was very drawn to the art(some) and the story line! Grant Morrison is a very good writer. There are a few cheesy parts but hey, what can you expect, i guess it matched the time period in the comic. The cover is also awesome! In this issues there are so many big names, it really adds to the issues(in ways).  The bad  Well it was 5 dollars! you can almost buy two normal issues. also i wasn't a big fan of the art transition, one era just wasn't appealing to me at all( Frank quitely's art...

Everything You Ever Wanted from the Bat 0

This is a flat out amazing issue. If you like Batman, chances are you're going to love this because while it left me with a lot of questions, it also tied a lot of loose ends up together. If you like Grant Morrison, then this is a real treat because he's flexing his muscles and showing off that a big anniversary issue isn't just a trip down memory lane, but a chance to do something major with the character. Best part about Morrison's writing here, is that there are certain passages that are a th...

    Dishin' it out 0

Alright, I had to dish out the $5 on this landmark issue.  I figured it would probably not be that great, but, strangely, I found it to be pretty gosh darn good.  Now, let me preface it with me walking home 3 and a half miles in the rain worrying about my comics getting wet.  Then, it began pouring – like Puget Sound every day in February pouring – and I sought refuge.  Enter coffee shop and a warm chai. I opened it up, and found this time-spanning narrative not confusing but, despite be...

Time Heals All Wounds? The Batman is Back in #700! 1

At First Glance: Grant Morrison is one of my favorite "dark" comic writers and when I saw his name grace the cover, I had to pick it up, (number 700 not withstanding!).   Overall the book is interesting, though not as interesting as Wonder Woman 600 and yet more dark and delicious than say Superman 700.  As anniversary issues go, it's an average foray into the life of The Batman.   The book reminds me in many ways of the old Silver Age 80 page giants:  The Secrets of the Batcave (yes, t...

Batman #700: No Matter When No Matter Where 0

No Matter When. No Matter Where. No Matter How Dark. The Dark Knight Shall Always Own The Night. Grant Morrison teams-up with artists Tony Daniel, Frank Quitely, Scott Kolins, Andy Kubert, and David Fench, to tell a story of Batman that has never been told before. Grant breaks the stories into three. Making it Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. However, this isn't all there is also And Tomorrow. Which tells the further history of Batman. Adding Terry McGinnis, a Batman from a corrupted Gotham ...

A new age classic batman story worth the 75th DC Anniversary 0

I love this story I have all the variants not just because of being a bat fan or it being #700, it worth the money the art is amazing and the story holds you on and won't let you let go!! The twists and turns make the reader become a detective trying to solve it before it's over! It take new age batman mixed with classic Batman issues but keeps him dark all in one and gives a glimpse of the endless possible ideas and story's of future batman story's as Damian Wayne and Terry McGinnista...
