All Good Things...
Adam West, Bruce Wayne is confronted in the Batcave by Ra's and his shadow warriors. While at her club, Selina, Wonder Woman and Nightwing are confronted by disco ninjas. Dick makes the comment that everybody IS Kung Fu fightin'. Bruce uses bright light to dispatch the shadow warriors. Facing defeat, Ra's, Talia and their men take their leave. Dick contacts Barbara to meet them at Arkham. The four are greeted by The Caped Crusader driving a new Trans Am Batmobile! Together they descend into the asylum, where they find a cadre of shadow warriors - Clayface, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, The Riddler and a new more feral Catwoman. She appears more Cheetah than Catwoman. Together they quickly and easily thwart the obstacles and make their way down into the caverns below Arkham. There they find another Lazarus Pit. Apparently, they're in different places all over the world. That was what was in the two volumes. The location of Paradise Island and the Lazarus Pits. Hitler was looking for those locations. Ra's suggests that Bruce embrace this fountain of youth. The Detective attempts to stop Ra's from taking another bath. Unfortunately, this pit has unexpected and unfortunate results on The Demon's Head.
This is a fun '70's period piece. Disco fashions. The Trans Am Batmobile is pretty cool. Nice touch there.
Batman '66 is making Catwoman the hero/villain she is in the mainstream DCU. She is more the fickle feline.
Another nice touch is the rogues gallery of shadow warriors. A little last minute and a little too easily and quickly dispatched - but it is still pretty cool to see them in action.
If it weren't the perfect ending for a Batman adventure, the ending would seem somewhat of a silly letdown. A lot of the Batman stories were wrapped up quickly with a slice of irony. A villain hoist on his own petard! Done in by his own wicked avarice!
The ending between Bruce and Diana leaves an opening more. Maybe a reunion team-up. Or, something else.
Still, was all this just to find Lazarus Pits and live young forever? There's nothing else given as to how Ra's wants to rule the world. Except for beer runs. But then, other rogues had even flimsier plots.
This is a pretty good introduction of Ra's and Talia into the Batman '66 continuity. Who knows what the future holds?
Batman '66 Meets Wonder Woman '77 ends on a pretty high note, earning five-stars.
