Action fueled issue as the "Hush" story takes shape.
Batman #610 is the third part of Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee's "Hush" series. It begins with a semi-healed Batman trying to get information from an incarcerated Killer Croc. But Croc is able to break out and after a brief fight with Batman he takes off. But we find that Batman allowed him to escape in hopes that he will lead him to who is really pulling the strings. Writer Jeph Loeb also gives us a little more insight into Tommy Elliot's somewhat troubled past and his relationship with Bruce. We also get a final page that I wasn't quite expecting.
Loeb continues to incorporate all of these cool Batman characters and, with one exception, none of their appearances seem forced or random. He also does a great job fleshing out the Tommy Elliot character in both the flashback and present day panels. Catwoman also take a stronger role here and I love how Loeb writes her. She's a little more trusting than usual but she's still plenty strong enough and doesn't back down to Batman and Loeb isn't afraid to explore their relationship. This is a well written issue that's loaded with action but that also unfolds the mystery more than the previous book.
Jim Lee's art seems to get stronger with each issue. He continues to pencil some amazing action pages but his character depictions are equally impressive. He's able to draw large scale action shots with energy and vigor while also showing a nice range of emotions through character expressions. It's solid and well-rounded art work.
Part three of "Hush" definitely amps up the action but it also begins to develop some key components of the greater story. Loeb's writing and Lee's art seems to get stronger each issue as the story begins to take form. This is a fun and energetic issue that really treats Batman and his many characters well.
