the manchurian candidate
This issue was probably emulated by the makers of "the manchurian candidate". (a "sleeper" is trained to kill people). This issue makes a great tragedy.
The theme is well suited for comic book form due to abstract art in the form of hallucination caused by "Sleeper"s gas.
Remmy, the muscled trainer, begins to fall in love with the weapon he created. He watches in sadness as her mind breaks down. To cover up the crimes, the "company" sends a killer to murder Remmy.
As Remmy tries to escape, he makes the mistake of attempting his save Sleeper, his love. She loses her mind and stabs him. Remmy defends himself and accidentally kills Sleeper (it turns out she is actually in a coma).
In a rage, Remmy charges batman and is killed by the hitman.
