The Fall Into The Labyrinth 1

The Story: While investigating the Owl's Nest inside Wayne Enterprises, Batman sets off a trip wire that nearly takes his life. Batman continues to entertain the idea of the Court Of Owls by investigating the death of his great-great-grandfather, Alan Wayne. My Thoughts:This series has been without a doubt my favorite to follow each month from DC. Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have had me hooked from the very first issue.  Last months issue ended with Batman setting off a trip wire shortly after...

Bruce Wayne, The Boy Detective 2

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have been giving us a story of massive size. A threat that may have or may not have been around for hundreds of years. Does issue #4 add onto this full scale threat?  THE GOOD: I like Greg Capullo's art. I think that it makes Batman's world feel dark and shady. I think that if we ever needed a definite version of Gotham City; this should be it. The story is actually makes this story work so well. Scott Snyder can writer, and boy does he write a great Bruce. We get t...

    Gotham Origins, Batman Origins 0

The investigation about the Court of Owls continues in a fascinating story about the first detective case of the young Bruce Wayne...THE GOOD:We've seen Batman lost in particular cases a lot of time in the last years, but there was only one thought in Bruce Wayne's mind, even when Gotham was destroyed by an earthquake; Gotham City is HIS city, HIS home. The Good of this new association of Villains is exatly the ability to query that basic thought, something that can hurt Batman more than the expl...

    The model of consistency. 0

Art: I absolutely adore how Greg Capullo draws Batman and it could honestly rank as one of my all time favorite renditions. I like his dark and gritty style. The flashback sequences were done very nicely in a completely different style to the rest of the comic.Plot: An exhausted and bruised Bruce Wayne unfolds his history with The Court of Owls to Dick Grayson and takes us all the way back to his parents demise and how their death might be linked with the Owls. Batman follows up on a lead only t...

The Eyes of Conspiracy Watch the Children 1

The Good: This is definitely the best cover for the series thus far. It's really intense and compelling, placing Batman in the skin-crawlingly ominous eyes of the ever-watching Talon. The city in blood underneath him and the way the metal bits on his headpiece blend into the sky are extra touches of brillaince that make this into a masterpiece.Snyder does another incredible job using an extensively informative narration as a framing device. This one is MUCH more personal to Batman, and actually ...

The Calm Before the Storm 0

Story: Following his escape from the tripwire trap that went off at the end of last issue, Bruce shares with Dick his first case as a boy detective. The Review (Minor Spoilers): Capullo's artwork has a quality consistent with that of past issues. The action sequence at the beginning of the issue was particularly riveting, although not better than any of the openings of previous issues. The rest of the book was fine as well, and the slight change in style during the flashback scene with Bruce was ...

    Batman # 4 0

All the mystery and suspense all coming to a conclusion. Exciting! Is it not? Well hell yeah! This story is very bad ass we get to see The Court Of Owls getting into action with The Cape Crusader! And dang it’s very fascinating because this story may tie in into the reason why Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne we’re murdered that dark cold night in the alley. Bruce is been determined to find just what it is The Court Of Owls have to do with Gotham City and possible connections to his legacy. The Tal...

    Face the Court! 0

I don't know how Snyder does it...The issue begins with Batman escaping from an explosion, he says that the trip wires are most a fear instrument than a damage one, is good for Batman cus' we know that he doesn't scares easily.Back in the Batcave he is looking at the bones of Alan Wayne, he has a litle talk to Dick telling him that there's no Court of Owls, because he looked into it, when he was a boy.It looks like prior to his parents murder was some kind of sign, in the attic was an Owl with h...

That Night Revisited Or, THERE IS NO COURT OF OWLS! 0

This issue was, like all the previous ones, awesome. Snyder continues to be awesome at writing Batman as the World's Greatest Detective. The detective work he does here is great. I also loved that he teamed up with Dick. I like that they are making the books more cohesive, but doesn't that mean Damian should be somewhere in this book? I know he has his own book for that, but he should be in the background here and there. It seems like all the non-Batman and Robin books have a Batcave inhabited o...

    ...Dust. 0

With Batman surviving a dastardly trap in a nest for The Court of Owls we find the Caped Crusader recovering whilst doing some detective work, however Dick shows up to voice his and Gordon's concern's that he may be taking this too lightly and then Bruce reveals why he doubts the Court's existence...The CoverOminous and Looming. There really isn't much else to say other then how fitting this cover is for this storyline. The GoodI'm now convinced that Scott Snyder can build a good monologue around...

Another great issue from the new Batman team. Love Capullo's art in the flashback scenes (as well as the rest of the book.) The ending is another great cliffhanger really looking forward to the next year of Batman!...

    Judgement Of A Bat 0

As everything literally exploded on Batman last issue, Scott and Greg continue to tell the compelling story of Batman battling his greatest threat in his entire career! With the Court of Owls tolerating such a threat as Batman, they are now ready to capture him and place him in a trial that will test Batman's skills. How will the dark knight escape this one?The GoodThis is my all time favorite Batman story. With Scott Snyder having worked on the Detective Comics story arc before the New 52 era a...

Comic Review -- Batman #4: Face the Court / Scott Snyder, Greg Ca 0

Originally posted on my blog, The Comics Cove, not too long ago...I like the cover for this issue. Batman in the sights of the Talon, an outline of a Gotham Batman may not know as well as he thinks... it really sets the tone for this issue. Playing up these elements also shows Batman's obsession with the Court of Owls as a hoax, as well as the Talon's current obsession with killing him.Batman narrowly escapes the blast from the tripwire he caught at the end of last issue, and heads back to the B...

    Its Batman's City 0

Batman continues to investigate the Court of Owls he faces more trouble. He escapes the trap of the tripwire and heads back to the cave to examine his great-grandfather's bones. I did enjoy Dick and Alfred's talk and I enjoy seeing Bruce as a child trying to find out if Joe Chill was part of the Court of Owls and seeing do his first detective work too. I did like how Dick was concerned with Bruce and told him it was his city and he needed to be careful too. The ending left me wondering what's go...

"Do the chickens have large Talons" 0

After last issue's explosion booby-trap I was worried a little for the Caped Crusader, but he shakes that off pretty easily at the beginning of this one...the Good:Another Dick cameo :D but sadly not a Nightwing one :(. I enjoyed Bruce's childhood flashback with his first 'case'. He looks for the Court of Owls because he can't accept that a common thief like Joe Chill killed his parents, but only finds an deserted nest.I felt the cover was appropriate, it implies that the Court of Owls is watchi...
