Another excellent entry ,in the Savage City arc
Plot
Simple,really....The "3 wise men",Brucy,Lucious, and Jimmy-Jim are trying to find Eddie, based on what they made previous issue. They think they're ahead, but they forget they have to deal with the freaking Riddler. He knows their plan, and sabotages it.Jim is trapped under the city, and Lucious with Bruce, are trying to deal with what they have.Bruce gives a motivating speach to Lucious,to keep trying, and he,himself,is figuring out where's Eddie hiding, based on a map,of the city(Eddie's city design) he has.And because he's the Goddamn Batman,he finds him.And then the "game" as Eddie calls it,begins.....
Thoughts
It's weird that "Savage City" has got a perfect score, from me,thus far......Snyder's knocking it out of the park with every issue.Keeps you interested, invested in the story, and every issue needs a couple of reads more to understand it better......and that's a good thing, with that book.it's a "Let's see if i missed something" re-read,not a "I didn't understand half of what was going on" re-read.
The writing is top notch.Every character is in-character,and we see everyone evolve.Bruce dropped the "anger management kid" and is walking towards the Batman aspect of his life.We see him evolve and acually change....not drastically, and quickly, which would have been weird and unnatural, but slowly and in a way that makes acual sense. We see Jim trusting Batman, and Batman starting to trust Jim,and the whole relationship coming to full circle, after the hatred he had for him.
Bruce still speaks like a young man,it's visible at some points, but he's walking towards the maturity...you can feel it.
Eddie is a real dick.So props to Snyder.
You get the feeling that this guy is ,out of this world, smart, and nearly un-touchable.And when you get that feeling,BOOM Batman finds him......that's why this thing is epic.
Another one "Past event that will pay off in the future" page here........Bruce handing some money to a hobo, and saying that he's gonna be his new butler.......he's obviously not Alfy, but we can't help but wonder who the hell is he?
Capullo's art is coolnontheless, but it's a tiny bit of a step down from the previous issues.....i don't know,i got that feeling.
