We didn't need this!
Since the New 52 I had high hopes for the Joker but Snyder simply wrote him as nothing good and something I didn't like. But with this Villains Month issue I was really interested in the direction of the story and the issue. This is one of the issues I am looking most forward to because it's about the Joker, that's everything I want and need.
The story is more wacky than usual. It's about hot the Joker took a gorilla from the zoo and raised it like his own son because he had a terrible childhood. That is the basic idea of the story and Andy Kubert messed it up really bad.Joker is one of those villains that you don't need to know about more because the mystery behind him is one of the most interesting things. This may be a fractured memory or some kind of memory that Joker's head came up with but I didn't like the idea that we see how his aunt abused him and stuff like that.I didn't like the whole thing and Kubert lost me with the first page right ahead. As for the gorilla part it was a fun thing to read about because it was wacky and everything that was happening was classic Joker but I didn't feel like it was good enough.
The artwork of Andy Clarke is something that astonishes me every time.I really like his style and in this issue his style was amazing as always. The Joker looked perfect and he HAD a face,a thing that I just loved.I really liked the part where this is the Real Joker, the one with the face and not that crappy version Snyder used or thought was good for the Joker and Batman fans.
The issue was fun but nothing more than that.I didn't think that this was the best choice for a special Joker only issue with a special high price.Andy Kubert didn't do a bad job but I just didn't care for the whole thing. The gorilla died right off in this issue and why should I care for him.He didn't do anything memorable,he was fun but nothing more than that.A mediocre story which I made the mistake and bought.
