I have only just recently started buying from this series, and I have been impressed with it enough to buy the past 3 or 4 issues. Simone has a firm grasp on Babs, and was really looking forward to not only a Catwoman team up, but the return of Mary, the Talon Babs faced in issue #9. With some nice and realistic fill in art, this annual tells a tale that will affect Babs and her allies from here on out, but on to the reviewTHE GOOD:Batgirl is investigating the destruction of 6 buildings due to f...

The Psychotic Perspective: Batgirl Annual #1 4

The Blood That Moves UsI have thoroughly enjoyed all the issues of Batgirl so far, but though the issues have been good, they have not been great. It is a solid book, but each issue seems to be held back just a tad, and I have not yet pinpointed what needs improvement. Does Batgirl’s Annual push past good and into the realm of great, or does it remain just short of excellence? In this issue, Batgirl discovers that the Court of Owls is still making trouble in Gotham, and Catwoman is hired to break...

The new MUTE girl in town 4

well first i need to see I really liked the art here, its very stylized and good looking on most of the tiem, the only problem seem to be Catwoman face, but the image of the city, the buildings and backgrounds is just amazing, but overall this is an artist i want to see again soonthen the writing, the issue starts with Batgirl fighting a bunch of guys in skimasks in a building on fire, she kicks their asses why she thinks of them as poor homeless ppl that are just victims of the circumstances an...

So, back when I reviewed Batgirl #9, I said it felt like it was missing something. Not a directly tangible thing, but just lacking the room to fully grow the concept. The issue was filled with good ideas and not enough room to fully express them the way All-Star Western did by using Night of the Owls as a trigger to launch their own Court of Owls arc. But Gail Simone wasn't done, and using the extra pages of this annual, she blossoms one of her better stories in the New 52 made out of all the sp...

THE GOOD: The art work in this issue is amazing. Admira Wijaya does a great job and her style is very clean but filled with details. The artwork appeals and it makes you want to see more of it when the issue eventually ends. The facial expressions; mainly the eyes convey a lot of emotion and the action is just as fluid. The story is a little out of nowhere but it still manages to work. We actually get to see the perspective of two characters but even the Talon gets a bit of action and goes a lit...
