    BatWatch Review: Batgirl #20 3

A Splinter Where My Heart Should BeI'm actually a little afraid to read Batgirl. I want to like this series as so many do, and some issues in the past have been a lot of fun. I thought some moments of Batgirl's Death of the Family tie in were amazing, but then we have issues like #19 which...melt my brain. I've already mentioned my criticisms on the issue many times, so I'm not going to rehash everything once more, but to put it succinctly, I thought the entire resolution to the James Jr. story...

THE GOODBATGIRL, as a series, contains a number of believable, well spoken characters. Issue 20 makes it easier than ever for to connect with Barbara. There is more emotion in this twenty-some page comic than I've experienced in many two hundred page novels. Gail Simone is definitely a writer's writer. The artwork channels the story at a blinding fast pace, and it isn't at all hard to keep up with. In the end, I wasn't too crazy about the issue but I am glad that I bought it.Warning. Some spoilers.I'll start with the negatives. I'm really not liking Barbara. One of the reasons I dropped this series is because I found Babs to be incredibly annoying. She's winey and over-emotional. And it was a bummer to see her go from one of my favorite characters, Or...

This fantastic cover promises a lot. I mean, it doesn't promise the biggest story or a whole ton of events, but it promises something really creepy and/or twisted, I mean seriously look at that cover! The new Ventriloquist looks looks horrifying, malnourished, and downright unnerving. And the Batgirl puppet isn't much better, which I mean in a good way because the creepiness is just so intense and eye-catching, I'm really getting excited about Batgirl again.THIS is where Gail Simone usually shi...
