    Review: Batgirl #18

Batgirl spends some time with a witch-boy named Klarion on Valtentine's Day. Can Klarion understand the meaning of Valentine's Day?

    The Good

Upon first read, it was just ok for me. However, I read it over again simply because I LOVE Dustin Nguyen's art, and realized I understood the book a bit more. It's less of a super-hero book and more of a fun book that happens to have super-heroes in it. The last issue with Damien was a lot of fun and I was hoping for a bit more of Robin; however, we get witch-boy Klarion, who doesn't understand Earthly traditions. I'm personally not familiar with this character, but he, like Damien, was the perfect counter-part to Stephanie Brown, who I'm finally starting to enjoy as Batgirl. This issue, like the Larfleeze Christmas Special, is a lot about introducing a foreigner to a tradition in a fun way. The humor is dead on and Bryan Q Miller is a writer I find myself enjoying again and again. Did I also mention I LOVE Dustin Nguyen's art? There's some great water-colored sections in the issue that will make any D. Nguyen fanboy giggle.... Yes, I giggled.

    The Bad

I'd like to see an on-going story with the same amount of fun the last two issues have had. That's about it.

    The Verdict - 4.5/5 - Highly Recommended

    Great Jump-On Point

I'm loving this book. It's entertaining, comical, and witty. The art is amazing and so is the writing. It doesn't matter if you don't like Batgirl, you're going to like this book. I've never been a Batgirl fan nor a Stephanie Brown fan, but this book made me a believer. Just buy it already.

The Good: I absolutely LOVE Dustin Nguyen's cover for this issue. I might even rank this as my favorite Batgirl cover thus far. One of the great things about Dustiny Nguyen is his ability to vary his art. He puts it to great use in this issue, having the first and last pages in a much more surreal stylized look, and doing the same thing when they travel to Klarion's home world. It's a VERY nice touch. The story was really nice and fun. It had the nice sense of Batgirl kookiness whole still provi...

Love is in the Air 0

Cover I usually look forward to the covers for Batgirl but not really loving the cover for this one. I think that Stephanie is drawn a little sketchy.  Story Steph finds a boy named Klarion who needs to find his were-cat who needs to mate. They go looking for him and in the end the were-cat ends up mating. And in the end they end up spending Valentine’s Day together. Best Part I always love these one shot stories because it makes you step back and take a breather from the big story arc storie...
