    The Omega Effect Begins.

Synopsis: The fight for the Omega drive begins.

Ever since that story back in Amazing Spider-Man #677 and Daredevil, #8 I was curious on what kind of role this Omega drive would play. A device that holds information on the most powerful criminal organizations in the world? A story like this should not feature Spider-Man, but his morals may be the only thing keeping Daredevil and Punisher from doing something reckless. It's also because these three characters have a long history together. So, why is Spider-Man in this storyline anyway? It's actually starts out to be a simple request from Reed Richards to ask Daredevil to give back the Omega drive.

I'm amazed on how well Greg Rucka and Mark Waid balances this story between the three characters. Last I heard, Punisher died at the hands of Daken, transformed into a Frankenstein, and now back human, with a badass look like Big Boss from Metal Gear (if anybody knows, what's is up with his eye?). And he also has a female partner that's just like him (or as Spidey puts it, "Punisherette")?! Because of his nature, this story is a bit more mature than what I rarely see in either Spider-Man or Daredevil. His ideals conflicts both Daredevil and Spidey, especially Spidey's now that he's bent on his, "No one dies when he's around" rule. Punisher is not a superhero, he's a man bent on eliminating criminals.

And the best part besides this story so far, is the impressive artwork by Marco Checchetto and Matt Hollingsworth. It certainly has the look of a darker story featuring the three characters. While the story balances all three characters, the Checchetto and Hollingsworth balances each character actions and movements, with the majority is focus on Spidey (this is Avenging Spider-Man after all) as the group take on The Hand ninjas. And it's so awesome how the Hand looks like a swarm. On a side note, I personally like Punisher's new look and outfit.

    Overall:

This is just the start of the Omega Effect. While Spidey appears to think he's has a good plan, things can easily change in both Daredevil and Punisher's part of the story. And I'm not the least discouraged that this is a crossover event.

A good start to what should be a great story 0

I was a little hesitant about picking up this issue because I had heard mixed things about it. But I am trying to get into reading Daredevil and Punisher, so I thought this crossover arc would be a great place to start. I'm glad that I did pick it up because its a very promising start to what should be a great crossover. The art is great and moves the story along at an exciting pace. The interactions between the characters are priceless and true to the classic characterizations. The book isn't w...

      A begrudging buy for completion's sake 0

Right off the bat, let me say that there is nothign WRONG with this issue... I just feel that I've seen it all before. The trio of characters involved in this crossover generally gets roped together for a story along similar lines to this once every few years. And we've seen it all before: Daredevil and Spider-Man are friends with a quippy rapport, and Punisher agrees to work with them for a common goal, promising to not use lethal force during the team-up (however hard it is to imagine him actua...
