I'd be cool with Falcon and the Wasp being in Avengers 2.

As long as Pym and Wasp are also in Avengers 2, then I'm cool with this...

@theTimeStreamer:

He says in the interview he's going to bulk up to 230 pounds for the role. Most actors who play superheroes tend to have vigorous work-outs anyway since they aren't that muscular when they aren't doing superhero roles.

Many people don't take the Falcon seriously, so he's lucky to even be making an appearance.

Marvel just wants to diverse the team - I bet the only reason they won't use Black Panther, is because of the word "Black", also being in front of Widow... Lol.

I love Mackie, so I'm excited to see him as Falcon. I hope he's more like the Ultimate version.

I think they aren't using Black Panther because he's too big to be a co-star of someone else's film and they didn't plan on doing a Black Panther film before the release of the next Avengers, because they had more important things to do..thus making Falcon the ideal candidate.

Rather see Luke Cage, they could could take the Black off Panther and just reference him as the Panther if they were to use the Black Panther though. This will kill the racial tension thing.

@Vance Astro: Well, apparently Marvel and DC are looking to introduce lesser-known characters which is smart in a sense - but, is Falcon an ideal candidate like you said? Honestly, I'm not sure myself... But he isn't a bad character really, I don't see why so many people hate him.

Screw Falcon, just bring in Panther.

I think he's just convenient for Marvel. Marvel wants do bad for all their films to be racially diverse. They said a while back that they plan to base all their future animated series on the films and guess who's in the promo art for the next Avengers series? The Falcon. Ant-Man is the most important member that didn't have a film yet, so to go with the pattern of the last Avengers film I believe one lesser known member will appear in Ant-Man,Cap,and Thor like how Black Widow and Hawkeye appeared in Iron Man 2 and the first Thor film. That way they they don't have to give those character their own films and at the same time they can introduce them as to not waste time doing it in Avengers 2. I don't think people hate the Falcon I just don't think he's popular. He's kind of boring. He hasn't been on an active Avengers roster in quite some time, his powers are extremely boring, there really isn't much to his character.

I think he can pull it off as Falcon and has RDJ extended his contract with Marvel?

Honestly, the people saying he's making an appearance before Black Panther because of the racial tension seem to be missing it. Black Panther is a character you can't really do without giving a solo movie first. Falcon has a simple origin and a history as a sidekick so he's easier to introduce in someone else's movie. Thus they get their minority member of the Avengers for Avengers 2 without having to spend 100 million dollars giving him a solo movie first.

Supposedly they're giving him actual powers (so I've read).

And cool.... but I need Pym.

give me panther or a heroes for hire film with luke cage and iron fist. Falcon has always been a lame character to me, maybe seeing him in a movie will change my mind about him.

@Deranged Midget: Well, no matter what - RDJ would've returned as Iron Man in at least 2 more Avengers sequels over the course of the next 10 years with or without a contract. He may be getting wrinkles every day he ages, but I think he'll have enough time for Avengers 2 and 3 before he has to let go and hand the role to another actor - apparently he's very keen on staying Iron Man for a LONG time, but it's unlikely. The thing about RDJ is that he has made such a good impression with Tony Stark like Johnny Depp did with Captain Jack Sparrow, that it's gonna be hard to replace him... I hope Robert can continue playing Iron Man for another 20 years, I mean, come on - there's a little thing called "CGI"...

@Galactic_Man: If I recall correctly, he isn't that old at all.

I'm happy they picked a quality actor like Mackie rather than some rapper (and I am NOT against musicians acting).

They should give Falcon his energy wings.

Did anyone really expect RDJ to not come back.?

He is Iron Man. The suit and he are one. To turn over the Iron Man suit would be to turn over himself, which is tantamount to indentured servitude or prostitution, depending on what state you're in. You can't take it away from him.

@Deranged Midget: He's 47 - sure, that's not OLD, but he's not that young either. People like Chris Evans and Hemsworth could play Cap and Thor for God knows how long... Even Kevin Feige pretty much implied RDJ is getting old and that they will have to replace him sooner or later.

They could also just put a rest to Iron Man at some point. Not kill him per say, but have Tony and his pals ride off into the sunset and focus on grooming new properties for film. They have an endless universe of heroes to pick from, after all.

In fact occasionally retiring characters could be a good way to cycle in new ones as members of the Avengers without the team getting too crowded.
