AvX 9
THE GOOD
Spider Man, who seems to have taken a very back seat of this event, is finally in the limelight, and boy, does he use it well. From his peptalk to Hope to his taking on Magik and Colossus, he shows himself as a real great character, even with a few corny (but still laugh inducing) jokes. Even down, Spider Man's best power, his wisecracks, save him from an untimely demise.
The art is good, and the action shots are always enjoyable, (except the part of Spidey's face being beaten in... That was just wince worthy... I felt so bad for him).
We're finally feeling that the playing field is being evened again after the second arc really put the pressure on the Avengers, and this issue really sells the desperation they are feeling. Storm and T'challa finally show up together and address one of the elephants in the room, and while I enjoyed it, the end result was pretty much "We're dealing with this in one of the epilogue comics, coming OCTOBER 2012, ha."
At this point, with Cyclops invading K'un Lun and Emma becoming some Mutant Punisher, the series is really up in the air on where it will be going.
THE BAD
With 2 of the remaining 5 taken out pretty much off panel in such a lame way, and no word on how Namor is doing, I docked my review a star for the cop out. Unless one of the X titles shows more on how Magik, Colossus, and Namor are handling their loss of ultimate power, I'll be very disappointed.
THE VERDICT
In their desperation, we are getting back to a more 2 sided fight, with only Cyclops and Emma remaining, and Avenger's still having their 2 secret weapons, Wanda and Charles. The epic conclusion is approaching, so jump on board while you can.
