What kind of mother doesn't even recognize her own son?
This story encompasses all of the Marvel Universe. There are sixteen different characters that get to speak dialogue and many more that appear as cameos or get mentioned in dialogue. Characters from six different Marvel teams are involved in the story. This feels like an event comic without the setback of events and their tie-ins.
I was slightly worried that the pacing would get slow from here on in as prior to this issue we still had four more issues to go and the mission to find the Scarlet Witch had already been completed. But a lot happens in this issue and the story progresses well. Nevertheless it doesn't feel rushed either as Allan Heinberg finds moments to insert comedic remarks (look above and below) along the way.
There are lots more examples like this throughout the issue and they compliment the story rather quite well. The art by Jim Cheung is superb and top notch. It’s the reason why this story has operated on a bi-monthly schedule but the quality is well worth the extended wait.
What we get in this issue (which I won’t spoil) is what side Scarlet Witch is on and what her plan is going into the last third of this series. We get an awesome cliffhanger at the end as well and August 31 can’t come any sooner even though for most of us it would be the end of our summer and relax time!
This issue takes its time getting to the end. As this moment was a long time coming and felt very powerful. There’s quite a few revelations and status changers which will have some effect on the Marvel continuity. So this is definitely worth checking out!
I’m glad that my most anticipated title of the month didn’t disappoint and even surpassed my expectations.
Who should read it? Anyone. Everyone, except for people who only want to see Wolverine clawing through other people’s bodies because that does not happen here! Thankfully!
