Hidden Feelings and Lost Memories
Gage is constantly surprising me with his excellent, incomparable and superior dialogues, the way he extracts the essence of each character and boils them down making the sum of them an amazing and intricated plot is spectacular. This was perhaps the best issue of Avengers Academy, because it´s a balance display of amazing dialogues, excellent aproach of mature themes (like is it ethical getting revenger or enjoying beating up a bad guy), great action (the battle between Taskmaster and Finesse is off the charts) and superb art. McKone may not be one of the best, bu he definitely put a lot of his personality into this book, so you can tell this connection, this flow, optimizing his art. The best thing about this ongoing series - specially this issue - are the little details, like an expression, or how each member of the Faculty teases with each other (this issue Quicksilver and Tigra), not only for the pleasure of annoying one another or for personal reasons, but to instill change, to show the person that he cares, even if this means taking the person down on her knees. Also I´m enjoying the developments of the characters, they are all very interesting and the direction that Gage is leading them is nothing but remarkable. I particulaly enjoyed a lot the dialogues between Finesse and Taskmaster, it was incredible (all the dialogues were and I don´t want to tell any of the story here, so I can´t say much about it). If you´re not reading this, it´s a huge mistake, so go now and buy Avengers Academy. Highly recommended!!
