Good:In this issue we see alot of funny and some "lovey dovey" stuff in it. We see chemistry with Mettle (Ken Mack) and Hazmat (Jennifer Takeda). Striker and Veil talk about their feelings. We also see some spark between Spider-Girl and Reptil. We even see love between Hank Pym and TigraBad:The reason why Reptil changes back to his teen form is undefined.Overall:The issue was a breather was the recent fight with Korvac and tells mostly the emotional status of the team....

Get Down with Your Superhero Selves 5

After their epic throw down with Korvac, the Avengers Academy stress levels are at an all-time high. In order to try and calm things down and provide a sense of normalcy, Hank Pym and Tigra have invited some former members of the Initiative to show the members of the Academy a time they’ll never forget. Time to boogie: Avengers style! The Good  This issue shows off a lot of characters we haven’t really seen or heard from since the closing of Camp Hammond after Norman Osborn's takeover of the fa...

A much needed breather issue. 0

After the emotionally taxing Korvac situation, it's time for a breather for the students and, by extension, the reader. It's time for a dance! This works really well, even if it's not terribly action-packed. We get to see some of the characters actually develop, especially Pym, Mettle, and Hazmat. The cameos by the former New Warriors, Initiative recruits and the Young Allies are great, especially Komodo and Firestar. Reptil's story gets progressed, as well, but in a really vague way. Striker, a...

At least there wasn't a bucket of pig's blood! (get it?) 2

Avengers Academy #13 Okay so for some reason the facutly of Avengers Academy decide to throw a pretty random prom for the students and any other youthful super heroes that would like to show up! Ummm yeah so pretty much this entire issue revolves around this prom. Many relationships and character interactions are shown here such as relationships between Tigra and Hank, Firestar and Justice, Reptil and Spider-Girl, and Hazmat and Mettle. Minor confrontations flare between people hitting on people...

    I don't like Katy Perry. 1

Issue #13 of Avengers Academy.   The Story: After beating the crap out of Korvac the faculty decides to throw a party for the team and invites the Intiative and the Young Allies.   The Good: I really liked the conversation between Mettle and Hazmat,it's making their relationship in a logical direction and does it well and who knows I might start liking Hazmat. There are a lot of conversations in this issue like the one between Firestar and Justice wich was nice. The one between Veil and Stiker was...

    It´s Party Time 0

Gage delivers an issue filled with excellent dialogues, amazing interactions and terrific aproach to the characters, putting them into the most variety situations possible there´s in a party: from dating to fights, this issue is a great display of how good a comic book can be if the writer truly knows how to describe the characters, how to make each one be unique, how to create from individualism the great things that makes a team work properly and I guess this is the path that Gage is trying to...

    Grew on me 1

Every now and then in comics such an issue as this comes along, where there is something which happens to characters which seems a lot more like real life and real issues as opposed to having to deal with super powered villains.  It often revolves around some defining moment of a character, such as a 16th birthday, but here (and just in time to overlap with real life proms) the Avengers Academy has their own.  I set out trying to avoid thinking about cliches of this particular brand of storytell...

    A welcomed break 0

After 12 issues of information and action being thrown at us in every direction, it was nice of Gage to give us a little rest in the form of a prom.Having read very little of Avengers: The Initiative, the 'introduction' of some of its former members was something I appreciated. The characters we've come to love had some fantastic dialogue throughout the issue amongst each other. Relationships between students and staff progressed, though all this happiness can't last forever (I fear).Chen's artw...
