Both Red L.A.M.P. and myself have been praising Brian K. Vaughan's Y: The Last Man for some time now. The story is all the males on Earth suddenly die except Yorick Brown. Different factions of women are after him, some to kill him and others wanting to kill him.
Shia LaBeouf has expressed interest in the role in the past and Director D.J. Caruso (who also directed Shia in "Eagle Eye" and "Disturbia") is waiting for their schedules to match up. Caruso is working on the script at the moment. LaBeouf has recently suffered a slight injury and has just finished the sequel to Transformers. Perhaps things will line up soon.
Caruso has also stated that he sees the story of Y as being spread out over three films (the series was sixty issues).
