Valiant Teases UNITY for November

This November, it looks like the Valiant Universe may be teaming up to battle one of its most popular characters.

Valiant comics just released a couple of teasers for their upcoming event UNITY. According to Valiant, there is a major announcement for this project coming very soon. For now, we have two images. One from artist JG Jones and the other from Clayton Crain.

Here we have X-O Manowar floating above Ninjak, Livewire, The Eternal Warrior, and Harada. If you've been reading X-O MANOWAR, then you know there's a conflict between Eternal Warrior (Gilad) and X-O Manowar (Aric) because Aric is trying to claim a piece of Europe as his own kingdom for he and the Visigoth people.

Harada and Aric battle it out! The line "to kill a king, he has created an army!" Will Aric have to take own the whole Valiant universe? Is it characters within the Valiant universe unifying to stop Aric? Valiant has been putting out nothing but non-stop awesomeness in their books, giving them the title "THE MUST-READ PUBLISHER OF 2013." Looks like they're closing out 2013 with a bang.

This is set to debut in November. What do you guys think of the upcoming event? What's going to happen?

@extremis: Shadowman was definitely my favorite. Harbinger was really good too. I plan on picking up more trades soon.

@longbowhunter: yeah glad youre enjoying the unpredictability and don't forget the Valiant credo: dead means dead. No one is ever safe.

What's your favorite book so far? Just know they each got better in their second arcs. Valiant fans cherish the Renegades arc (2nd arc in Harbinger) and Enter Ninjak will introduce you to, well, Ninjak. Super cool character and a great story arc. Shadowman picks up too. You should also check out Quantum & Woody issues one and two. They've been getting rave reviews early on and are very popular thus far.

@extremis: I knocked out all three trades in a day. Now I need to go pick up the first XO trade. Your right it is a lot of fun to explore new characters in a new universe. I don't know any of these characters or what their agendas may be. A lot less predictable.

@longbowhunter: I'm interested to hear how you're enjoying them. It was so much fun when I first got into Valiant. So many new and fresh characters, a whole new universe to explore. There's really no turning back once you've been exposed to great storytelling that they're doing over there. Valiant is by far my favorite publisher.

And yes Unity is an ongoing. Valiant is not as black and white with who their heroes and villains are or their alliances as the big 2. Its not here are the good guys and here are the bad guys, now watch. its much more complicated than that. t's really a more realistic and natural look at how these things would actually progress. Unity will be a book it seems where heroes and villains unite against X-O as he presents what will probably seem like a new threat to the world. Guy is just in the wrong place at the wrong time, literally.

Interesting... the ongoing part! I don't really like such team books and would prefer a limited series but maybe Valiant can/will change my mind?

I'm surprised that there are Valiant fans on here, I thought the CV community were all about Marvel & DC. Maybe there is hope for the human race after all.

Marvel and DC characters have devolved into such teen drama nonsense as: who is dating/sleeping with whom, pointless egoism written into male characters by having them routinely "alpha up" on one another, and just the overall lack of any real humility that so many of these characters are shown to display today.

Taking a look at these Valiant characters is a real treat in the sense that they in general, and their world, seem like such a throwback to the classic eras of comics. Heroes just being heroes and the action flowing naturally because of that.

Unity again? Nice! I enjoyed that crossover event back in the 90s and it seems they are doing it again in a whole new fresh way :) Awesomeness!

This is the first I've heard of this and I can't wait. If you've been reading Valiant than you know this is a natural progression of the whole universe and if Aric is going to try to take back his homeland he's going to meet resistance. This is not some made up event to boost sales.people need to jump on this you won't regret it. The only Valiant book I'm not pulling right now is Archar and Armstrong and that's just because of my budget, I'm sure it's great also.

@captainhoopla: I bought volume one of Bloodshot, Harbinger and Shadowman on eBay. I've read the first issues to all of them digitally and enjoyed them enough to peak my interest.

Wow, finally some love for Valiant titles. i have been reading since day 1. Yes, there is another option other than the Big 2. Although I read select Marvel and DC titles I'm loving Valiant.......but. valiant has too much infighting between major characters (heroes). What they need to do and I hope your reading Valiant... is introduce some new villains. A hero is only as great as the bad guy he's up against.

I do agree! At some point Valiant will have to come up with fresh names... for villains, for events, and for new heroes. Right now there's only Eternal Warrior (September launch) and Ninjak left from all the major original characters; keeping in mind Dark Horse owns the rights to Turok, Magnus/Robot Fighter, and Solar in the meantime.

However when it comes to UNITY this event/crossover thing makes sense - it's the continuation of Aric's journey and logical response from Harbinger & Co. Here's a short plot teaser from a previous article on multiversitycomics.com

ALL-NEW ARC, ALL-NEW JUMPING-ON POINT!

X-O Manowar VERSUS the Eternal Warrior!

Aric of Dacia returns to Earth after the events of Planet Death with his mind set on reclaiming the ancestral lands of his people. The code of a fifth century Visigoth is about to clash with the militaries of the modern world, and the only one who may be able to convince Aric to stand down is someone from his past – Gilad Anni-Padda, the Eternal Warrior. Artist Lee Garbett (X-O Manowar: Enter Ninjak!) reteams with writer Robert Venditti for a brand-new arc that will set the stage for X-O Manowar’s next year in the Valiant Universe.

UNITY will start in X-O Manowar #15 - "Road to Unity" by the way.

Well they have introduced some good bad guys IMO, Harada & the Harbinger Foundation, Project Rising Spirit, Master Darque and the various groups that make up the Sect.

@papparu72: I kinda like that way though, it makes the universe less "black and white" and more so just different factions.

Also, think how brilliant and relevant this is? X-O seems to be persecuted, maybe even allied against by all walks of life for trying to take back a land that was once his people's. Sound familiar?

This looks amazing! Seems it IS an event. Glad X-O is involved with this one. They've been teasing "UNiTY" for a while though for those who didn't know or don't read Valiant.

If you're not yet reading Valiant you better get on board. Things are about to get crazy up in the Valiant Universe and you all are just plain missing out on great comics. Start with Harby Wars and X-O Manowar, that should give you a decent starting point. To those passing on valiant yet again: I pity you.

@xwraith: I ended up dropping most of my DC pull list in order to get the Valiant offerings. I haven't missed it at all. Harbinger is my favorite with X-O being a close second. Bloodshot and Shadowman are really good and entertaining as well.

Conversely, I dropped all but 3 Marvel titles so that I could start picking up the Valiant books.

I'm only reading one from each (Green Arrow and X-Men).

In Marvel I'm down to just Uncanny X-men, Thunderbolts, and Scarlet Spider. I still buy way too many DC titles.

But didn't they have a UNITY event during their run in the 90's any relation, or is this a updated take on that?
