Three Books Come to an End in January

According to Marvel and DC solicits, three books will see their last issue in January.

Both Marvel and DC solicits were released this week and with it came some sad information about the future of three books: FAIREST, SHE-HULK, and X-FACTOR.

The ending of FAIREST was planned ahead of time, so this month, DC didn't cancel any books. The story contained within this final issue was originally supposed to appear in issue #21. Here's the solicit for this final issue of FAIREST:

This final issue of FAIREST features a special stand-alone story written by Bill Willingham! Don’t miss the return of fan-favorite maniac Goldilocks, with art by Meghan Hetrick (BODIES, BATMAN ETERNAL, THE JOKER’S DAUGHTER) and a special horizontal format cover by Adam Hughes!

Hitting #33 issues at Vertigo should be seen as a success, especially considering that FAIREST is a spin-off book of FABLES. Fans are getting treated to a Bill Willingham story to end the series, which is a bummer, but it should be a great send off.

SHE-HULK's solo career has been a rough one. any fans feel that both Peter David's (2005) and Dan Slott's (2004) runs with this character were ended prematurely. January's solicits revealed that SHE-HULK will be ending with issue #12 with the description of the book.

FINAL ISSUE! The end of the Blue File...and the end of an era! But when one door closes, another one opens, and Jen finds herself face to face with her most important case yet.

She-Hulk got a #12 issue run with Charles Soule writing and Javier Pulido on art duties. The fact a lawyer was writing a book about a super-hero lawyer seemed incredibly perfect, but alas, She-Hulk meets cancellation once again.

Peter David has been writing X-FACTOR for over 8 years. To put this in more perspective, David began his run with the team in the aftermath of House of M. Issue #20 marks the last issue of ALL NEW X-FACTOR.

At last – the revelation behind the secret of Harrison Snow. Guest starring: Spider-Man 2099. Final issue!

On the plus side of things, in January, fans will be getting two issues of the book, since both #19 and #20 come out. Artist Alex Garner, primarily known for his covers to BATGIRL, will be providing the art to the final issue.

While it's sad to see these books go, fans will cherish the time they had with the books.
