The End Of Madman Atomic Comics? NOOOOOO!!!

Sniff, sniff, why is this series ending?

Sigh.  "All good things must come to an end..."  I may have mentioned once or twice that I absolutely love Madman.  Coming this August, Mike Allred and the Gear (Allred's band) are ending the series with a big bang and a musical epilogue.  The final issue of Madman Atomic Comics will wrap up all of the series stories and also mark the release of The Gear's new album, "Left Of Center Of The Universe."  Both the issue and album will feature the return of characters from Allred's other series, Red Rocket 7.

For those concerned with my well being, it's not all bad news.
"MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS marks the end of an era, but definitely not the end of MADMAN at Image," Allred said. "MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS was a really fun time for me, Laura, Madman and friends. Working at Image gave us an unprecedented freedom with the book, allowing us to experiment like never before! I hope fans have enjoyed the trip thus far and will be back with us on the next leg once we get to it!"
The Gear's new album will feature special guest musicians including The Dandy Warhol's Courtney Taylor-Taylor.  The August release will also be a limited edition Direct Market exclusive release in advance of the mainstream edition and will include tracks not available elsewhere.

Madman will return in a "different form" at Image Comics at a later date.

Madman Atomic Comics #17 will be a 32-page comic for $3.50 available on August 19, 2009.  The Gear: Left Of Center Of The Universe is a full length audio CD at $12.99 and there will be a signed edition for $24.99 on August 12, 2009.
