Am i the only one who found the facial hair bros page extremely cheesy, juvenile and redundant?

I'm normally all for giving a page to give us a fun scene but 40+ or 50+ year olds acting like teens didn't sit well with me.

I liked the concept of the scene and it probably would've been funny to me but i didn't think it fit. Even RDJ's ironman in the movies isn't that much of a man child.

@ultimatesmfan: Honestly, a part of me wanted to hate that scene. Just thinking about it in an abstract sense makes me want to hate it. But reading it actually just made me legitimately laugh (not exactly "out loud", but at a medium volume) and I can't help but smile re-reading it now.

@ultimatesmfan: As the third person to reply to this, no, Tony stark acting like an annoying teen and wasting time, in which a city could get blown up for some "we've got beards" joke is not really that funny.

And does Tony kinda feel like that guy from the Ant-Man movie in that or is it just me.

The fact that Tony stayed in that position like that for a high five really tickled my funny bone, especially with that goofy smile. Despite that, "facial hair bros" is a little too much for Tony. Bendis should tone it down a notch.

It's not just you, friend. I completely agree with you. And it's not just comics, movies keep making use of this college frat boy humor, as well. I for one think it's lazy writing to just tag along with pop culture. Tony and Steven are both better than this (the "I hate you" line is just as juvenile).

in an interview, the writer did say that Black Canary can/will show up sometime

I guess it's possible that this was her appearance, but I like to think she'll show up later

Ollie will have a crush, Emiko will meet her favorite lead singer, everybody wins

Well between Tony having a major hand in creating the world destroying antimatter bombs for the Illuminati and using a super satellite laser weapon to destroy an intergalactic space fleet, I feel there is plenty of blood on both of their hands. If Tony said anything about Stephen's Great Society take down, it would be a major case of the pot calling the kettle black.

What bothers me I guess is that none of the fans or the writers have a problem with Stephen's murders or Tony's actions. I get the feeling that marvel writers now consider murder a misdemeanor at best.

About that Luke/Rodney Dangerfield comparison....

When I went to Emerald City Comic-Con in 2012, it was the first year they had voice actor guests, and there was a special panel where they did a live script reading of 'Star Wars' as a radio play. BUT, all the characters were done mad libs-style, with each VA using the voice of a character they played (or a celebrity impression) to play a SW character. For the cantina scene, they had Maurice LaMarche doing Inspector Gadget as Obi-Wan and George Costanza as the bartender; Rob Paulsen doing Mark Chang (from Fairly Oddparents) as C-3P0; John DiMaggio imitating Paul Lynde as Dr. Avezan; Tara Strong doing Poof (Fairly Oddparents) and later Twilight Sparkle as Han Solo; Billy West doing Tony Soprano as Greedo; and, fitting for this column, Jess Harnell imitating Rodney Dangerfield as Luke Skywalker.

Don't get me wrong, I thought it was severely wrong for Strange to have done that. I understand that Strange was in a fall in terms of his character and he was becoming more and more willing to hand wave problems away no matter the consequences or the cost. But if you look at the the situation with The Great Society, they were completely ready to kill The Illuminati too. So you could argue it was self defense, but the whole incursion thing is a super complicated and nuanced issue. It is supposed to challenge how we see heroes and shows what characters would do in the face of a literal end of all reality. Is ending someone's life a big deal when they may die another in another way you are unable to stop? So while it irks me, and I am sure others, that The Illuminati was able to do what they did, that was the whole point of the comic I thought.

Is there another example(s) you were thinking of in terms of Marvel Writers seeing murder/killing as no big deal?

Is there another example(s) you were thinking of in terms of Marvel Writers seeing murder/killing as no big deal?

I didn't see the GS as willing to kill the Illuminati, from what I could see they were willing to talk and even after they were winning they weren't killing. The fact there there is so little fallout from what Tony and Stephen and the others did and all that came before that in cw/wwh/avx and other events make me wonder just where the marvel writers are from a moral standpoint. If it's ok to junk standards when the going is tough what is the use of having them? I can't remember the last time I saw a marvel character stand on principle or regard honor and friendship as something that couldn't be thrown away when things got tough. Not in an individual issue where the author is throwing back to an age when the characters stood on principle to the end, but in a modern event or a crossover where standing on principle would cost them everything. When has that happened lately?

Now of course Stephen and Tony are off in another title and everything they've done is swept away in wisecracks and in-jokes. Five heroes died defending their world and to those two it's about as consequential as what they had for breakfast two weeks ago. No consequences to them anymore than to the X-men when they tortured captured Avengers in a virtual prison or the Illuminati after WWH. People get tortured, worlds die and the marvel writers don't seem to think any of that warrants some sort of justice. I don't think the writers care how high the body count is for anyone anymore, or what anyone does so long as in the next issue it can be forgotten.

If I'm wrong point out to me the issue where the Illuminati have been held accountable for anything and gotten more than a slap on the wrist.
